Benefits of Serving God 1
By Apostle Felix
12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Deuteronomy 10: 12
24 Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
1 Samuel 12: 24
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Galatians 5: 13
Serving God and other people is not an option, but a command. We are expected to serve when we are born again. A healthy church, among many other things, is one that serves God and its community. A healthy church looks like the following:
Romans 12: 9 – 21
A healthy church is one that:
a. Loves without pretence. It does not protect evil, but protects one another from evil.
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Romans 12: 9
b. Is enthusiastic to serve the Lord. It is passionate. It is excited about serving the Lord.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Romans 12: 10
c. Serves God with joy regardless of the circumstances.
12 Let this hope burst forth within you, releasing a continual joy. Don’t give up in a time of trouble, but commune with God at all times.
Romans 12: 12
d. Honour one another. It honours the leadership of the church.
e. Identifies needs of God’s beloved people, and respond by helping. It is a welcoming church.
13 Take a constant interest in the needs of God’s beloved people and respond by helping them. And eagerly welcome people as guests into your home.
Romans 12: 13
f. Blesses others and do not curse.
14 Speak blessing, not cursing, over those who reject and persecute you.
Romans 12: 14
g. Seizes every moment to manifest the glory of Christ. Encourages the discouraged and rejoices with those who have experienced God’s goodness.
15 Celebrate with those who celebrate, and weep with those who grieve.
Romans 12: 15
h. Is humble, and ready to serve.
16 Live happily together in a spirit of harmony, and be as mindful of another’s worth as you are your own. Don’t live with a lofty mind-set, thinking you are too important to serve others, but be willing to do menial tasks and identify with those who are humble minded. Don’t be smug or even think for a moment that you know it all.
Romans 12: 16
i. Forgives and is tolerant.
17 Never hold a grudge or try to get even, but plan your life around the noblest way to benefit others.
Romans 12: 17
j. Is Friendly.
18 Do your best to live as everybody’s friend.
Romans 12: 18
k. Is devoted to doing good to others regardless.
19 Beloved, don’t be obsessed with taking revenge, but leave that to God’s righteous justice. For the Scriptures say: “If you don’t take justice in your own hands, I will release justice for you,” says the Lord.
Romans 12: 19
