Dangers of Disunity
By Apostle Felix
10 I urge you, my brothers and sisters, for the sake of the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree to live in unity with one another and put to rest any division that attempts to tear you apart. Be restored as one united body living in perfect harmony. Form a consistent choreography among yourselves, having a common perspective with shared values.
11 My dear brothers and sisters, I have a serious concern I need to bring up with you, for I have been informed by those of Chloe’s house church that you have been destructively arguing among yourselves.
12 And I need to bring this up because each of you is claiming loyalty to different preachers. Some are saying, “I am a disciple of Paul,” or, “I follow Apollos,” or, “I am a disciple of Peter the Rock,” and some, “I belong only to Christ.”
13 But let me ask you, is Christ divided up into groups? Did I die on the cross for you? At your baptism did you pledge yourselves to follow Paul?1 Corinthians 1: 10 – 13
Witchcraft is one of the dreaded things in Africa. The false prophets have even merchandised the fear of witchcraft. Most of the night vigil prayer meetings are organized for the purpose of praying against witchcraft and witches. False prophets understand the trade very well of drawing masses to their services. An African is a spiritist who attributes every happening to spiritual entities. If you want to win an African over, just talk about witchcraft to them, especially to disclose who has been bewitching them as a family. But the most deadly witchcraft is the one that is overlooked in the church.
22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.1 Samuel 15: 22, 23
Disunity is one of the worst forms of Witchcraft. Witchcraft is not just casting spells or conjuring evil spirits to harm people. But it is something rooted in rebellion that causes disunity, division, and ungodly strife. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. The rebellious people are usually divisive. Rebel groups in a country aim to destabilize peace by inciting disunity and confusion. Rebellion in the church does the same thing: inciting disunity and confusion. Rebellious people in the church are worse than witches assigned to wreak havoc in a particular church. It is dangerous because the rebellious people are part of the church and well integrated into the church system. These are the people who know the church and leadership’s weaknesses. The havoc caused by such people is lethal because they are trusted by many people in the church. Absalom almost destroyed his father’s kingdom because he knew his father’s weaknesses very well. He almost succeeded at destroying King David and the kingdom..
2 And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.
3 And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee.
4 Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice!
5 And it was so, that when any man came nigh to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him.
6 And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.2 Corinthians 15: 2 – 6
Absalom was King David’s son, who rebelled against his father. Before the rebellion fully manifested, he stole people’s hearts from his father by evil speaking. The young man was a prince, the king’s son, so people easily believed what he said against the kingdom’s leadership. While the king was doing his best to serve his people, his son was busy destroying all with his mouth due to bitterness.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.Ephesians 4: 31, 32
Absalom was a bitter young man. He was bitter with his father, David, because he did not punish Amnon, his brother, for raping his sister Tamar. He carried the bitterness in his heart for many years and later killed his brother. Absalom later decided to dethrone his father.
Child of God, do not take disunity lightly. It is an evil that the enemy uses to destabilize the church of Christ. Disunity can camouflage itself in sympathy-seeking, but in fact it is dividing the brethren. Disunity is rooted in witchcraft whose purpose is to confuse and hatred in the church. Watch out!
