The Word
By Apostle Felix
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.John 1: 1,2, 14
Jesus the word of God became flesh or rather man and dwelt among the mortal man. The immortal became mortal and made Himself of no reputation. He stripped Himself of all privileges He had as God and lived like a mere man. The entire Godhead bodily dwelt in Christ Jesus as a man.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Colossians 2: 9
The God incarnation was not an afterthought but it was a plan of God from time immemorial. Before Adam had sinned, God had already planned God to die on behalf of man. Adam’s rejection of man caused such a disruption in God’s intended purpose of man on earth. God had intended man to be the ruler over the affairs of the earth, but man chose the words of satan over God’s Word. That betrayal made man to lose his place of power and authority and was relegated to a place of a captivity to death.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
Romans 5: 14
Death came through one man’ rebellion, Adam. Therefore, life had to come through one man’s obedience.
19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Romans 5: 19
Such a man, who could obey God absolutely could not be found among those born of man. It was impossible for a man with a corrupt, fallen nature to die for another fallen man. The mission of dying for man, had to take God to leave His abode to come into man’s abode. Such a mission is called the incarnation. Incarnation is God becoming man. Jesus was God before the incarnation, and when God incarnated He became the Son of God. Therefore, the Son of God is God, the Word becoming man in the flesh. When the word occupied a body, the coming together of the two – divinity and humanity is what is called ‘the Son of God.’
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 1: 12
Every born of the word of God has been given the power to be called a child of God. The Word became flesh for this same purpose of giving power to a mortal man to become a child of God. The word had a body prepared for Him and occupied the body in Mary’s body. When Mary visited Elizabeth, the mother of John, the baptist, Elizabeth screamed and said….
42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?Luke 1: 42, 43
The same word that occupied the womb of Mary is now occupying your body. Not as a baby Jesus, but as the resurrected Lord and Saviour. Since the risen JESUS lives in you, your body is now the dwelling place of the Father. Now that the Father dwells in you, you have been made a son of God. The word of God in you has qualified you to be a son of God. Since you are a son, you have been given the right to the inheritance in Christ.
12 Your hearts can soar with joyful gratitude when you think of how God made you worthy to receive the glorious inheritance freely given to us by living in the light.
