Grace based Life

Grace based Life

By Apostle Felix

1  Let me be clear, the Anointed One has set us free—not partially, but completely and wonderfully free! We must always cherish this truth and stubbornly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past.
2  I, Paul, tell you: If you think there is benefit in circumcision and Jewish regulations, then you’re acting as though Jesus the Anointed One is not enough.

Galatians 5: 1, 2

A grace based life is a life that is opposed to a work based life. Christianity is different from all the religions around the world because its faith is grace based. All the religions are work based faiths. The religions’ faith is in the works they do to please their gods, not God. The emphasis is solely on works. In religion, man is the one making every effort to reach and please their gods. Religion is all about appeasing gods. Religion makes its adherents restless. God meant man to rest in His finished work. The creative order intent has never changed. God rested on the seventh day.

1  Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2  And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3  And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Genesis 2: 1 – 3

God made man after He had finished all His creation. No creation took place in man’s presence. All that man needed for livelihood had already been created by God. Rest for man is God’s idea, not man’s. He instituted a day of rest for the children of Israel after the emancipation from Egypt. He called it a sabbath day.

27  And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Mark 2: 27

Rest was made for man. The finished work is for man. God finished His work in the beginning and then placed man in His finished work. That’s how grace looks like. Grace is the work God has done and man becomes the beneficiary. The first man lived in a place of rest which was a fruitful environment. Everything he ever needed was at his disposal. He had the best of life in the garden of Eden. The problem started when man heeded to satan’s suggestion of becoming like God by his human effort. Human effort is work based and makes man to be independent of God. Works or rather religion perpetuates spiritual dryness which is a fertile ground for all evil activities. The rest in God extinguishes the works of the flesh, which is sin.

14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Romans 6: 14

A grace based life is an overcoming life. Power is found in rest. Most of Jesus’ miracles were performed on the sabbath.

4  Then he turned to all those gathered there and said, “Which is it? Is it against the law to do evil on the Sabbath or to do good? To destroy a life or to save one?” But no one answered him a word.

Mark 3: 4

Sabbath was a day of rest for the children of Israel, which was symbolic of the salvation through the grace of God. Just like the children of Israel rested from all their works, through grace we have found rest from all our works.
