My Grace Journey…9

By Apostle Felix

Living By Faith

28  And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29  And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30  But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31  And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Matthew 14: 28 – 31

The subject of faith is very central in a believer’s life. It is impossible to relate with God without faith. God is Spirit and no one has ever seen God at any point in time. God is seen through the lens of His word. The Bible tells us that Christ is the exact express image of God, and Christ is the word of God. God, the Father can only be known through Christ. Therefore, faith is embedded in the knowledge of Christ.

18  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

2 Peter 3: 18

Faith is a product of growth in the knowledge of Christ. Faith that is independent of Christ is fake. The faith in Christ is not just hope, but is the believing that what God has promised has already been done in Christ. It is not an appointment but it is a done deal. Faith is something that has been already and we believe it, confess it, act on it and thank God for it.

13  We have the same Spirit of faith that is described in the Scriptures when it says, “First I believed, then I spoke in faith.” So we also first believe then speak in faith.

2 Corinthians 4: 13

Years ago, a sister from the church I once belonged to, approached me to ask for prayers. She had applied for Bible school in South Africa and was due to travel that month. But she did not have the means to go and pay her intuition fees. She did not know what to do and was very much discouraged about her circumstances. I promised to pray with her that day, and I committed myself to pray. I prayed her for throughout the night and in the early hours of that morning, the Lord spoke me regarding what she ought to do. The word He gave me for her was very simple, yet very profound and powerful. He simply told me to tell her to live by faith. The Lord said, faith is believing, speaking and acting on what one has believed. I shared what the Lord had instructed me to tell her and without any hesitation she left for South Africa, only with the faith that God has already provided her school tuition fees. And God did honour His word in her. He paid her school fees miraculously.

17  Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18  Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

James 2: 17 – 20

Faith is active, and never passive. Faith is not a discussion but an action. Faith is not a promise, but a manifestation. A faith life is known by its works, not only but its speeches.
