My Grace Journey…7
By Apostle Felix
The Power of Words
28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
Job 22: 28
I have been sharing some of my encounters with God that changed my way of thinking. Each encounter has a significant contribution to my spiritual life and understanding of the word of God. God teaches us His word through incidences where we need to apply the word of God. God has exalted His word above all things. God and the word are one. When God asks you to do something, He will also show you where it is in the word. He does not want us to only rely on experiences, but to subject every experience to the word of God. It does not matter how powerful and spiritual the experience may sound, but if it is not supported by scripture, it is not God. God cannot ask us to do something that is in violation of His word. Do not exalt experiences and spiritual encounters above the word of God. The word is supreme.
20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
Pro 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereofProverbs 18: 20, 21
I first preached in a crusade in the North western part of Zambia. The church, where I fellowshiped as a new believer organized a crusade in the part of that country, in a village. I was part of the team that traveled for the crusade. I was not more that two years in the Lord. I was very young in the Lord. We used public transport and alighted by the roadside. We did not know the road to the village so we waited for someone and lead the way to the village. While waiting for the person, the Holy Spirit prompted me to begin to declare what we expected to happen in a crusade. I knew no better but I just obeyed and began to declare the power of God, healings and salvation. I did that for the first time. And then The Lord said to me, ‘Life and death lies in the power of your tongue. Speak only which you want to see, do not speak which you do not want to see.’ As I was trying to comprehend what the Lord had told me, He went on to say that He spoke light to be in the midst of darkness. Speak life in the midst of death. And that’s what I did that day. I declared life.
We arrived at the crusade site that afternoon, and the masses of people were expectant. People had traveled from very far villages just to come and attend that crusade. Some people had traveled for days. The excitement and expectation was electrifying. Few minutes before the crusade started, my pastor turned to me and asked me to preach that first night. I tried to protest but he insisted that I preached. I excused myself for few minutes, just to go and inquire from the Lord. The Lord gave me a scripture from Genesis chapter one verse two.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Genesis 1: 3
I was there on the platform not necessarily to preach but to call things. When I finished sharing, then the Lord asked me to pray for the sick. I was very scared really to do such a thing. I had never done before. But any ways, I went ahead to ask for those who were sick. To my amazement, almost every hand went up. We are talking about more than a thousand people. And then the Lord instructed me to speak healing and command sickness to go. I did that. And then there was silence. I didn’t know what to do next. I was afraid. What will the people think if no one is healed. So I devised a strategy of instead ask for those who are not healed. But none of the hands went up. I asked for those who were not healed for several times, but no hand was raised. And then suddenly there was an eruption of noise from the crowd. The noise was about a lady who was known to be bent over but suddenly straightened up, another woman who had a big tumor on her neck suddenly disappeared. There was an eruption of miracles. People testified until almost midnight.
The following day, I was allowed to preach again. This time around the Lord asked me to pray for the baptism in the Holy Spirit. We led the people to the Lord, and then prayed for the crowd to receive the Holy Spirit. What is recorded in Acts chapter four is true that the earth shock. The Holy Spirit descended upon the people and the earth shock. There was so much power that demons were leaving people without been commanded to do so.
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Acts 4: 31
In the crowd was a man who was once a rebel leader, second in command to Mushala. His name was Zaibwende. That rebel group was a thorn in the flesh of the government. He was confounded the power of God. He could not believe that a young man in his twenties could display such kind of power. He had never witnessed such kind of power before. All he knew was diabolical power. He came to acquire about the power he saw. To cut the long story short, he got saved the following day. Why I am sharing all these. It’s just to let you understand that there is power in your mouth. Do not underestimate the power of your words. That day I saw the manifestation of what the Lord had asked me to declare while standing by the road side. Begin to declare life in your environment, family, workplace. It works.
