You Are Valuable

6  He existed in the form of God, yet he gave no thought to seizing equality with God as his supreme prize.
7  Instead he emptied himself of his outward glory by reducing himself to the form of a lowly servant. He became human!
8  He humbled himself and became vulnerable, choosing to be revealed as a man and was obedient. He was a perfect example, even in his death—a criminal’s death by crucifixion! 

Philippians 2: 6 – 8

Your value as a human being is equated to Jesus’ birth and death. God decided to become man so that He can redeem man. Jesus’ birth is evidence enough that man is so valuable to God. Your value is more than earthly possessions. Actually, equating your value to things is devaluing yourself. So many, find their value in what is on their bodies, the house they live in, the car they drive or their circle of associations. Though those things are important but they do not define your value at all. Your true value is related to Jesus’ birth and death. It took God Himself to be born as a man to come and die for the redemption of your life. Money could not rescue man from the penalty of sin. Powerful associations could not rescue man either. It took the Son of God to take the place of man through birth and die as a common criminal all for the love for man.

7  Now, who of us would dare to die for the sake of a wicked person? We can all understand if someone was willing to die for a truly noble person.
8  But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly! 

Romans 5: 7, 8

That’s how valuable you are. Even when you did not see value in yourself, God saw value and decided to be born in order to redeem you, as His valuable possession. Man is unique in the sense that he has been made to be Lord over God’s creation. He is the only being that houses the Holy Spirit. He is called God’s son. Even angels are not called sons of God, neither have they been given Lordship over God’s creation. Angels have been deployed to serve man in the execution of God’s agenda on earth. Man’s value is higher than that of angels. This is the reason why it is wrong to worship angels. It is foolish for man to worship a fallen angel, Lucifer. Satan wanted to make Jesus to worship him in the wilderness. He wanted Jesus to find His value and affirmation in turning stones into bread.

3  It was then the devil said to him, “If you are really the Son of God, command this stone to turn into a loaf of bread for you.”
4  Jesus replied, “I will not! For it is written in the Scriptures, ‘Life does not come only from eating bread but from God. Life flows from every revelation from his mouth.’”

Luke 4: 3, 4

Unfortunately, the church’s identity has been marred by satan’s deceit. Believers follow a man based on the miracles he performs rather than by his character and the message his preaches. The corruption in church and in our societies is due to lack of understanding of our value. If the church understood the basis of it’s value then it cannot be taken advantage so easily by false men and women. We have witnessed people fed on snakes, rats and grass in the name of Jesus. The intention behind such practices is to devalue which God values so much. So many people have been abused in the name of deliverance because of lack of understanding of  value.
