You Are Not Inferior
By Apostle Felix
1Sa 10:26 And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.
1Sa 10:27 But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.1 Samuel 10: 26
Life comes as a package. It is like a parcel, well packaged with assorted life events. In your quest of pursuing life given purpose, you will encounter moments when your vision will be undermined and despised by some. It’s normal. Sometimes, some people may not see you as one fit to fulfill the vision you shared with them. They cannot just take it that someone like you can do the things that you are announcing as your vision. You don’t look like one, and do not even qualify for it.
Remember when one of the lecturers in Bible school expressed his doubt in my ability to preach. In fact, he mockingly said, ‘How on earth will I be able to preach every Sunday.’ But today, I prepare devotionals everyday of the week. This particular lecturer could not believe that God had called me into ministry. He even suggested that I could go and serve under one of the students after we graduate. The Lord does not look at the outward appearance of an individual, but the content of the heart. What this lecturer missed was that my heart was full of God and God’s potential.
7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
1 Samuel 16: 7
Samuel was sent by God to go and anoint one of Jesse’s son. When Samuel saw Eliab, whose stature befitted a king, wanted to anoint Eliab. But God rejected the idea because His appointments are not based on man’s qualifications. You may not see yourself as one who qualifies but the Lord has qualified you according to His standards. Do not despise and undermine your potential and purpose, just because some people have despised you. Your destine in entirely in God and yourself.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isaiah 53: 3
Jesus was despised and rejected by men. God was despised and rejected because He did not look like the Messiah. There was really nothing outwardly that would attract people to Him. Today, we have artificial ministry that is based on how expensive one looks. Ministry is now more to do with branding than God. And this kind of reasoning has made many ministers to seek diabolical powers for wealth and fame in exchange of their souls. You can look good but that should not be a mark of success in ministry. When Jesus was rejected and despised, He never sought a short cut to the throne. But He stayed focused on His mission to die on the cross for the salvation of mankind. When David was ridiculed by his brothers for pursuing his desire to conquer Goliath, he still stayed focused. He did not see himself as inferior and try to retreat. He went ahead and brought Goliath down.
What to do in 2026:
1. Do not mind the opinion of those that despise you
2. Focus on fulfilling your dreams.
3. Do not be bitter, forgive and move on.
4. See yourself the way God sees you.
5. Look unto Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith, Hebrews 12: 2
