You Are Complete In Christ

9  For he is the complete fullness of deity living in human form.
10  And our own completeness is now found in him. We are completely filled with God as Christ’s fullness overflows within us. He is the Head of every kingdom and authority in the universe! 

Colossians 2: 9, 10

Dealing with unfinished business is one of the catchy sermon titles preached around in churches. The sermon title sounds good and catchy, but it does not align with the complete work of Christ. Every business that had to be dealt with, Christ Jesus dealt with it once and for all. There is no business that Jesus left unattended to. This approach to christianity has produced believers who are perpetually dependent on others for their freedom. It is a state that has made the born again to go into bondage again. This is the reason why believers cannot experience the rest in Christ. Christ has called believers into rest. Unfortunately, believers are made to be ever searching for the unfinished businesses in their lives and families to deal with. I don’t think it is possible really to locate all unfinished businesses of our families from the generations past and deal with them. It’s like asking someone to confess all all the sins one has ever committed in order to be forgiven. Christ never asked us to confess our sins in order to be saved. He only told us to believe in Him and and what He has done for us. He never asked us to confess even the sins of our forefathers, either.

You are complete in Christ. Your salvation is not something that is delivered in installments. Your freedom in Christ is not something that is given in phases. What Jesus did for us is complete and we have been made complete in Him. You have been made sons of God by His power. You are not becoming sons gradually, but you were given the power to become sons when you believed.

12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

John 2: 12

You have been given the power to become the sons of God, complete sons and not becoming. There is no business of your forefathers that can limit the manifestation of the power of God in your life. The only thing that can limit the power of God in your life is the state of your mind. And not what your dad, mum or grand parents did before you were even born. Our total freedom is in our knowing Christ and His finished work. Jesus said so in John 8: 32…

32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

What is the truth? The truth is Christ, because Jesus said so in John 14: 6 that…

6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

He is the truth. The knowledge of the Christ sets us free. Not the knowledge of what our forefathers did. It is what Jesus did that sets us free. Just imagine of the bad things we did before we got born again and most of it we cannot even remember. How in the world can we go back in time to try to retrieve what our forefathers did and call it unfinished business. That exercise itself is an unfinished business.

1  Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.
2  Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes. 

Romans 12: 1, 2

Our spiritual reality is complete in Christ, and the soul has to align and conform to the state of the spirit. The spirit man is free in Christ, and has been made righteous. It is the soul that needs a transformation by the word of God.
