You Are Blessed!
By Apostle Felix
3 Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has already been lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderful heavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus—all because he sees us wrapped into Christ. This is why we celebrate him with all our hearts!
4 And he chose us to be his very own, joining us to himself even before he laid the foundation of the universe! Because of his great love, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in his eyes with an unstained innocence.
Ephesians 1: 3, 4
You belong to the household of God, which is the blessed family. God, who is our father is blessed without measure. He is not trying to get blessed, or doing something to get blessed. He is predominately blessed in every way. He did not become blessed. He is the blessing. The family of God is partaker of the nature of God, and that includes the blessing too. As a family member, the blessing is your heritage. You do not have to work for it, but it is acquired as a result of new birth. It is the Christ in you that makes you blessed. It is very unfortunate that some chrsitians want to perform or rather to something to become blessed. But in Christ, you do not perform in order to become what Christ has already made you to be. The subject of blessing has been used as a weapon of manipulation to squeeze especially finances out people’s hands. It is not the giving that makes one to be blessed. It is the Christ in your life that has made you blessed.
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
Deuteronomy 28: 1
Under the Old Covenant, the blessing depended on the individual’s performance. One’s diligence and observance of all God’s commandments invoked God’s blessing upon an individual. But we all know better that none of us has the ability to obey all God’s commandments without faltering. It is impossible. The children of Israel could not. They failed terribly. The law was given for the purpose of making man to realize that he needs God. It was not given to make man righteous and blessed. Unfortunately, the church today is trying to attain the blessing of God through observing the law. Preachers, ignorantly inform their church members to give and serve God in order to be blessed. That is totally wrong. That is wrong and misleading. The church members will then start giving to God out of fear to avoid a curse and attract a blessing. We do not do in order to become in Christ. It is supposed to be vice versa. We give because we are blessed. We serve because we are blessed of God.
6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Galatians 3: 6 – 9
Abraham believed God and was made the righteousness of God. The gospel, which is the good news, was first preached to Abraham before the Lord was introduced through Moses. The covenant God had made had no demands pressed on Abraham like the law of Moses. God said and Abraham believed. And that alone made Abraham to be declared righteous and blessed. We are the children of Abraham because we have been called to believe God what He has done for us in Christ. Jesus finished the work. He did it on our behalf. He died our death. He became a curse so that we can be blessed. All we need to do is to believe in Christ and in what He has done in us. The rest springs out of our relationship with the Father in Christ. The giving is as a result of who you become in Christ, a child of God and a blessed of God.
