Without Faith…

Without Faith…

By Apostle Felix

24  So the disciples woke Jesus up and said, “Master, Master, we’re sinking! Don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” With great authority Jesus rebuked the howling wind and surging waves, and instantly they stopped and became as smooth as glass.
25  Then Jesus said to them, “Why are you fearful? Have you lost your faith in me?” Shocked and shaken, they said with amazement to one another, “Who is this man who has authority over winds and waves that they obey him?”

Luke 8: 24, 25

Where is your faith? This was a rhetoric question from Jesus to His disciples in the boat. Jesus had spoken to His disciples to cross the lake to the other side. Jesus’ word to the disciples was an assurance that getting to the other side of the lake was not a debatable matter. It was a settled matter. The faith of the disciples was supposed to rest in the words Jesus had spoken before they sailed. Unfortunately, the disciples faith was more in the storm than what Jesus had said. Their faith in the storm produced fear. This was the reason why Jesus asked them where their faith was. Faith in God and what He has done makes one to be at rest. While the storming was raging, Jesus was at rest.

20  “My old identity has been co-crucified with Messiah and no longer lives; for the nails of his cross crucified me with him. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, and dispenses his life into mine!

Galatians 2: 20

No man has the capacity to generate independent of God. The faith that we do have is the faith of the Son of God. The basis of our faith is the fulfilling of the word of God through the birth, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our faith rests in the faithfulness of God. Jesus told His disciples to cross to the other side. It was an affirmative statement that was as good as done. In Jesus’ view, they had already crossed the lake safely. But in disciples’ view, they were about to be killed by the storm.

24  So the disciples woke Jesus up and said, “Master, Master, we’re sinking! Don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”….

Luke 8: 24

Faith is not just a positive mind. It is not just positive confession. Faith in God is having the faith of the Son of God. What is the faith of Son of God? The faith of the Son of God is actually the fulfillment of scripture in Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. Christ came to fulfill that which was written about Him.

44  Then he said to them, “Don’t you remember the words that I spoke to you when I was still with you? I told you that everything written about me would be fulfilled, including all the prophecies from the law of Moses through the Psalms and the writings of the prophets—that they would all find their fulfillment.”

Luke 24: 44

Faith rests in the finished of work of Christ alone. If you know what Christ has done for you then your faith is in the right place. When you are accused. Where is your faith? When your soul is downcast. Where is your faith? When you miss the mark. where is your faith? When you have financial problems. Where is your faith? When you have family problems. Where is your faith? When you are rejected by men. Where is your faith? Let your faith rest in Christ in all circumstances.
