Vision For Expansion

Vision For Expansion

By Apostle Felix

14  And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
15  For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

Genesis 13: 14, 15

Abraham was a nomad, a man who moved from place to place without a permanent abode. Born and raised in Ur of the Chaldees, his journey began when his father, Terah, relocated the family out of Ur with the intention of entering the land of Canaan. However, it was from their intermediate stopping point that the Lord explicitly spoke to Abraham, commanding him to leave his kindred, his homeland, and everything familiar behind to journey toward an unknown land that God would eventually reveal to him. Heeding this divine instruction required immense courage and boldness, as it meant abandoning the safety, comfort, and security of his father’s house. Yet, Abraham understood a profound truth: as long as he remained confined to the safety of his father’s tents, he would never experience the supernatural expansion the Lord had destined for him.

1  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

Genesis 12: 1, 2

A true vision for expansion always begins by hearing from God, because only He possesses the complete, grand blueprint for our destiny. All too often, we limit His infinite power by confining Him to our own narrow expectations. While it is commendable to have personal goals, we must remain flexible enough to allow God to stretch and broaden our horizons. What you currently perceive as the ultimate destination may merely be a drop in the ocean compared to the vast future the Lord has planned for you. Sometimes, we celebrate prematurely and settle for less, mistakenly believing we have reached the pinnacle. Yet, God’s picture for your life is infinitely bigger and more vibrant than anything you could ever imagine; do not fall into the trap of developing an “arrival mindset” too early.
This principle is perfectly illustrated in the life of Abraham, whose livestock multiplied so abundantly that the land could no longer accommodate both his nephew Lot and himself. For the sake of peace, Abraham graciously decided they should separate. Though Abraham’s wealth was increasing rapidly, he lacked the physical territory and capacity to sustain that growth. Prior to parting ways with his nephew, Abraham was likely contemplating his next migration, perhaps even projecting a specific plot of land to move toward. God, however, had a strategy that far exceeded human calculation. God promised Abraham an entire region, but the actual possession of that territory depended entirely on his spiritual capacity to perceive it. The Lord challenged him to look beyond his immediate horizon, making the boundary of his inheritance equal to the span of his vision. How far can your eyes see today?
