Victorious Living Part 1

Victorious Living

By Apostle Felix

55  So death, tell me, where is your victory? Tell me death, where is your sting?
56  It is sin that gives death its sting and the law that gives sin its power.
57  But we thank God for giving us the victory as conquerors through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One.
58  So now, beloved ones, stand firm and secure. Live your lives with an unshakable confidence. We know that we prosper and excel in every season by serving the Lord, because we are assured that our union with the Lord makes our labor productive with fruit that endures.

1 Corinthians 15: 55 – 58

Hollywood movie actors are famous, not necessarily for their wealth, but for the heroic feats they display in their movies. For instance, Silvester Stallone became famous for the heroic character he played in the 1976 movie, Rocky, and the 1982 movie, First Blood. The majority of his fans did not know how much money he made from the movies. But they were fascinated by his heroism. Victorious living is more appreciated than riches.

Jesus became famous, not for the riches He displayed but for the authority He exercised over nature and man’s daily challenges. Jesus’ first miracle of turning water into wine was a demonstration of His divine authority over the elements of the earth. He actually informed the people that He had authority over space and time. Wine is a product of space and time. It takes a while for the grapes to ferment, and then it is processed into wine. Making wine can take about a month to years to be processed. Therefore, Jesus turning water to wine was a demonstration of absolute authority over nature.

28  By the time Jesus finished speaking, the crowds were dazed and overwhelmed by his teaching,
29  because his words carried such great authority, quite unlike their religious scholars.

Matthew 7: 28, 29

Jesus’ teachings and preaching had so much authority and power because of who He was. He was the Christ. He was the life-giving Savior. He demonstrated His ability to give life by His ability to forgive sin. Remember, before He died and rose from the dead, Jesus went about doing good and healing all those who were bound by the devil. All the miracles He performed were all pointing to one thing –  He had the power to give life, a victorious life. Man had a challenge that he could not overcome by himself. And it was a problem of sin. Man had made so many inventions, but there was one problem that he could not solve all by himself. The problem of sin. Man could defeat so many things in life, but sin was something that he could not defeat. David defeated Goliath, but he could not defeat the temptation of adultery with Bathsheba. Samson killed a lion with bear hands and defeated the Philistines single-handedly, but he fell at the hands of Delilah. This is the reason Jesus came to earth to die on the cross, be buried, and resurrect from the dead.

You have been given victory over sin through Christ Jesus. Sin no longer has power over you. You are free from the power of sin and death. Victorious living is not all about amassing wealth but is all about having victory over sin and death. This is the ultimate victory that Jesus wrought for us. Therefore, rest in Christ and let His power do its work in your life. The same power displayed across the pages of the Bible is the same power that is at work in you. The power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that is at work in you.

19  I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power
20  that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted him to the place of highest honor and supreme authority in the heavenly realm!
