The Real You

The Real You

By Apostle Felix

16 So then, from now on, we have a new perspective that refuses to evaluate people merely by their outward appearances. For that’s how we once viewed the Anointed One, but no longer do we see him with limited human insight. 17  Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new creation. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new. 2 Corinthians 5:16-17

You are not what many think you are. Man looks at one’s appearance to accord respect. It is so sad that this tendency is also prominent in church, where individuals are judged either by their financial status or the colour of their skin pigmentation. Some are not in leadership on the merit of integrity and availability but on the merit of their financial muscle. It is so sad that the value of man has been reduced to earthly terms. David was almost ignored because he did not fit in the social standards of their day. The nation almost missed a great king Israel had ever produced. There are so Davids around us that have been sidelined because their appearances and financial status does not fit the social standards. We have people in church with great potential but yet ignored.

As an individual, do not allow to be challenged by the colour of your skin or the state of your financial life. None of those things have the power to define you. Your definition of who you are is not derived from your physical appearance or the content of bank account, but from the nature and content of your spirit. Man is essentially spirit.

7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

A man of colour has suffered so much degradation and shame because of the colour of his skin. It is such a foolish thing that one would regard highly a ferari car painted brown or black, and yet disregard a brown man. Your worth is not in the colour of your skin but in your nature. It does not matter the colour of the ferari, it will still be sold exorbitantly. The value is not in the colour but the nature. Child of God, your value is not in your geographical location or any other thing but in your nature.

David’s location did not change his value. He was in the bush, looking after the family’s animals. And yet God located him from the bush. His value was wrapped up in his skin, hidden from man’s sight.

28 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle. 1 Samuel 17:28

David’s brother despised David because he was not of the soldiers. The brother even undermined what David did as a shepherd. He called David’s trade in a very derogative manner. Do not look for approval from the outside world. Find approval from the word of God that gives your spirit an image of Jesus Christ. Build your image from the word of God. Your inner man is more important than your outer image. Your clothes, money and earthly things wear out, but the image you have gotten from the Lord does not. There is nothing wrong to gather toys such as cars, houses but do not allow those to define who you are.
