FELLOWSHIP
By Apostle Felix
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2: 42
The purpose of church fellowship is to foster a sense of community and connection among believers, where individuals can support one another in their faith journey through shared worship, prayer, encouragement, and acts of service, ultimately strengthening their bond with God and each other; essentially, it’s about actively participating in a united Christian community based on shared beliefs and love for one another.
Key points about church fellowship:
-
Building relationships: Fellowship allows individuals to build meaningful relationships with other Christians, offering support and encouragement during life’s challenges.
-
Spiritual growth: By sharing experiences and perspectives, believers can learn and grow in their faith through fellowship.
-
Unity in Christ: Fellowship emphasizes the shared identity of Christians, reminding them that they are united in their belief in Jesus Christ.
-
Serving others: Fellowship provides opportunities to serve others within the community, putting faith into action.
-
Biblical foundation: The concept of fellowship is deeply rooted in the Bible, where Christians are encouraged to come together as one body.
You may not be a person that is not fond of fellowship, but I do encourage you to be in fellowship. Probably, you were once hurt and disappointed, but that is not an enough excuse to stay away from fellowship. We do have conflict and differences in our biological family, but we do not abandon them. We resolve our differences, and we move on living together. We do have conflict at our workplaces, but do we resign and go and stay at home? We work at resolving our differences and continue working together. Church fellowship is a family, consisting of individuals with different backgrounds, worldviews, and experiences from yours, but it’s Christ that unites us, and it’s Christ that should be the focus of our fellowship. Go to church!
