The Power of His Word

The power of God is frequently associated with people falling down during church services. Consequently, the absence of such manifestations is often interpreted as a sign of a powerless service. While the masses are drawn to these physical displays, they unfortunately tend to shun the actual Word of God. Indeed, many churchgoers now consider the teaching and preaching of Scripture to be devoid of power. What these believers fail to realise is that any manifestation of power must be defined and validated by the Word of God. The reason is simple: power is not exclusive to the Kingdom of God; even demons can demonstrate supernatural power. The true monopoly of God’s Kingdom is His Word.
Therefore, the specific word preached or taught determines the true source of any spiritual manifestation. Understanding this distinction is critical. Just because supernatural power is operating in a service does not mean it originates from God. To discern its true nature, one must examine the doctrine being preached. Scriptural authority dictates that where the word of a king is, there is power—meaning that true power follows the teaching of the Word. If a minister preaches the doctrine of devils, the resulting manifestations will be demonic. Unfortunately, the current generation remains largely illiterate and ignorant of Scripture, relying solely on pastoral dictation. A spiritually healthy church, however, actively fact-checks what is delivered from the pulpit. We must emulate the Berean church, whose members diligently cross-referenced everything they heard—even the teachings of the Apostle Paul.

 

10  That night the believers sent Paul and Silas off to the city of Berea, where they once again went into the synagogue. 
11  They found that the Jews of Berea were of more noble character and much more open minded than those of Thessalonica. They were hungry to learn and eagerly received the word. Every day they opened the scrolls of Scripture to search and examine them, to verify that what Paul taught them was true. 

Acts 17: 10, 11

Openness to divine knowledge is the key to living a victorious life. Scripture teaches that wisdom transforms an individual into a mighty warrior, while revelatory knowledge continually increases one’s strength. Given this truth, it is a sign of spiritual illiteracy and profound ignorance when believers gather in massive auditoriums solely to break ancestral curses. It is equally tragic when Christians devote entire night vigils to dismantling evil family altars or seeking the redemption of firstborns.

Such practices reveal a deep deficit of understanding within the Body of Christ, highlighting gatherings where the true Word of King Jesus is entirely absent. Ultimately, you cannot continue fighting a battle against a spiritual liability that has already been legally removed from your life and expect to eventually triumph. Victory is impossible when you are fighting illusory enemies. When the true light of revelation arrives, darkness automatically vanishes.

130  The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Psalm 119: 130

Jesus Christ is the Light of the world. Therefore, when He enters your life, you cannot expect darkness to coexist with that light. The Word of God is light, and the moment it enters your heart, darkness is entirely displaced. Unfortunately, many believers who are supposedly walking in the light spend their lives perpetually trying to expel darkness. In reality, if Christ truly dwells within you, darkness has absolutely no place in your life. Embrace the Word of God, and let His light shine boldly through you.
