The Power of God

The Power of God

By Apostle Felix

19  I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power
20  that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted him to the place of highest honor and supreme authority in the heavenly realm!

Ephesians 1: 19,20

Power is the most coveted thing. Everyone wants power. People seek diabolical power for the purpose of control. Political power is sought for the same reasons of control. Riches are sought, many times for the same reasons, it gives the power to control economic circumstances. The poor are have no control over the economical circumstances of life. They have no power to choose where to live, what to eat, what to wear and their voices are ignored. The rich and those in political positions have the power to push a nation in a specific direction of their choice. This is the earthly power. But there is power that is above the power of this world, and the power of Christ.

49  And I will send the fulfillment of the Father’s promise to you. So stay here in the city until the mighty power of heaven falls upon you and wraps around you.”

Luke 24: 49

The resurrection of Christ facilitated the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the believers. While Christ was on earth before His death and resurrection, the Holy Spirit was only upon one man, Himself. Since the fall of man, Jesus was the first man that had the Holy Spirit upon and in Him. He was the first man since the fall of man to have the Holy Spirit as the temple of God. Jesus received the Holy Spirit upon been baptized in the Jordan river by John, the baptist.

21  Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22  And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Luke 3: 21, 22

Jesus received the power from above, and that power was only in Him. For three and half years he ministered and taught the kingdom of God, He operated under the power of God. All the great miracles and teachings were as the result of the power of God which was upon His life. And it was not possible to give the power to His disciples before His death and resurrection. His death and resurrection was not only substitutionary but also expedient for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Man had to be cleansed first and made righteous before the coming of the Holy Spirit upon him. After the resurrection, Jesus commanded His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit before they could embark on the work of God. As they waited in the upper room, the Holy Spirit descended upon the church all because Jesus had risen and ascended to the Father. This same Holy Spirit is still around because Jesus is still seated on the throne as the risen king. As long as you have received the Lord, the power of God resides in you and upon you. God bless you.
