4  Abandon every display of selfishness. Possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests.
5  And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let his mindset become your motivation.
6  He existed in the form of God, yet he gave no thought to seizing equality with God as his supreme prize. 

Philippians 2: 4 – 6

It is certainly God’s desire that you and I prosper in every arena of our lives. God’s plan from the beginning is that we may be fruitful, multiply, increase, subdue and have dominion. Since God is the same yesterday, today and forever, and does not change, then are His plans concerning man. Jeremiah said that God’s plan for man is to prosper man, and never to harm him. Destruction has never been in God’s agenda. Of course, read about some of the events of destruction in the history of man, such as the flood. The destruction of the earth by water was due to man’s sinful deeds.

11  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jeremiah 29: 11

The mind of God is dedicated to see to it that we prosper. Though God loves everyone regardless of your social standing in society, He desires that everyone prospers. He loves both the sinner and the righteous but He desires that the sinner gets born again. Likewise, God loves the poor but He desires that they prosper, too. However, as much as God wants us to prosper, it cannot happen if our minds do not conform to the mind of God.

8  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 

Isaiah 55: 8, 9

Here the Bible writer was not reporting the impossibility of attaining the mind of God. But was reporting how man had fallen from the mind of God to the mind of man. We talk about the mind, of course we are talking about the thoughts. It was actually a call to return to thinking like God. This has always been God’s desire for man. This is reason why racism and slavery are terrible sins because they demean who man really is.

How to Develop the Mind of God

16  For Who has ever intimately known the mind of the Lord Yahweh well enough to become his counselor? Christ has, and we possess Christ’s perceptions.

1 Corinthians 2: 16

1. Be intentio0nally aware of the thoughts in your mind. Are they are according to the word of God or not. Examine your thought patterns , and if they are not aligned with the word of God, begin to mediate on the word of God.
2. Develop a habit of acquiring the knowledge of God’s word. Be deliberate and intentional about it. The word of God is the mind of God.
3. If you know how to worry then you know how to constantly think about something. Now, instead of worrying, which is meditating on negative things, switch over to thinking about the word of God constantly.
