The Essence of The Knowledge of Christ

13  Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

Isaiah 5: 13

Knowledge is essential to freedom. Every free man is a knowledgeable man. Freedom is solely predicated on knowledge. People are not in bondage because the devil is powerful. It is because people have rejected knowledge. The rejection of knowledge is the worst enemy of mankind, not the devil. The lack of knowledge is what empowers satan to cause havoc in people’s lives.

6  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Hosea 4: 6

Ignorance is a destroyer. Men are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Jesus said that you shall know the truth, and the knowledge of the truth shall set you free, John 8: 32. Ignorance is the bedrock of captivity. You cannot be ignorant and be a free man. Now, is it any knowledge that sets man free? I don’t think so. If it was so, Jesus would not have come to earth. Before Christ was born, man had some kind of knowledge. The Jews had the law and the Greeks had the wisdom of men. Yet none of the knowledge could set man free from his captivity. The Jews had the law but yet Jesus regarded them as captives.

33  Surprised by this, they said, “But we’re the descendants of Abraham and we’re already free. We’ve never been in bondage to anyone. How could you say that we will be released into more freedom?”

John 8: 33

The Jews were not free people despite the knowledge of the law they had. They had the law but they did not know Christ. The knowledge of the scripture without Christ does not have the power to set man free. It is the knowledge of Christ in scripture that sets man free.

John 5: 39

The Jews missed Christ in the scriptures and settled for the letter that testified of Jesus. They rejected the person and embraced the rituals instead.
