Taking Over

7  And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.
8  And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
9  So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.
10  But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor. 

1 Samuel 30: 7 – 10

God’s original intent for mankind is to take over and rule over all. He never intended man to be ruled over by the elements of this world. God’s original intent still stands until tomorrow. God does not change His mind as man does. Though man lost his place in God, it has been restored in Christ, who reconciled us back to the Father. Through His blood, we have come closer to God without fear and condemnation.

22  we come closer to God and approach him with an open heart, fully convinced by faith that nothing will keep us at a distance from him. For our hearts have been sprinkled with blood to remove impurity, and we have been freed from an accusing conscience, and now we are clean, unstained, and presentable to God inside and out! 

Hebrews 10: 22

In September, let us consider the following to participate in the triumphant life Christ has provided for us. He has given us a taking-over life. The anointing upon our lives is not for making us fall in church services but for taking over nations. It is for winning in life and being on top of things. The early church was on top of things that the authorities of the time were intimidated by. The early church had the taking-over anointing, which is also upon us today.

6  When they couldn’t find them, they took Jason instead, along with some of the brothers in his house church, and dragged them before the city council. Along the way they screamed out, “Those troublemakers who have turned the world upside down have come here to our city. 

Acts 17: 6

Consider the following:

1. You are the righteousness of God

The first place the enemy attacks believers in is the area of identity. The devil works tirelessly to convince believers that they are not righteous as Christ. So many believers’ faith has been shipwrecked because of guilt and condemnation. We have been made righteous, not by our own righteous deeds but by Christ’s. It is a gift.

19  For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Romans 5: 19

2. Brace Your Mind

Staying above the circumstances of life needs a mind that is settled on the word of God. The mind plays a major role in securing a taking-over life. Guard your mind against negativity from other people. Just imagine if David had given in to grief and what his men were saying. We were going to have a different narrative of David today. But he braced his mind and encouraged himself in the Lord. Hr reminded himself of God’s faithfulness rather than focusing on their losses.

1  If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 

Colossians 3: 1, 2

3. You Are Anointed of God

One thing that distinguished David from the rest of the people was the anointing that was upon his life. The anointing made him do great exploits. You have been anointed by the Holy One, and that anointing is for great exploits. Just like David was conscious of the anointing, be conscious of the anointing upon you, too. While others were wallowing in self-pity, David reminded himself of the anointing of the Lord which was upon his life.

21  Now, it is God himself who has anointed us. And he is constantly strengthening both you and us in union with Christ. 

2 Corinthians 1: 21

3. The Joy of the Lord

Pursuing whatever the Lord has laid on your heart takes strength to do so. God has provided joy to strengthen you in any given challenge of life. Apostle Paul and Silas were incarcerated but remained strong because of the joy of the Lord in their lives. Jesus said that we shall have trouble in this life but be of good cheer because he has overcome the world.

33  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. 

John 16: 33

4  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Philippians 4: 4

4. The Battle is The Lord’s

You are not fighting the battle using your own resources. Jesus overcame and gave us the victory. The battle has already been won, and all we need is to reinforce the victory. No soldier goes into battle with his own resources. His government provides all the necessary resources he needs to defeat the adversary. In our case, the resource Jesus provided is the defeat of satan and all his cohorts.

15  Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were his!
