14  The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit.
15  And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!”
16  For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!”

Romans 8:14 – 16

The Greek word used for son in Romans 8: 14 is Huios, which implies manifesting a certain character, either evil or good. The son mentioned in John 1: 12, is dervied from  a Greek word, Teknon which refers to a child that has been produced. Teknon is a son that has been born, while Huios is a son that manifests the attributes of the father. We have many teknons in the church but few huios. Its the sons (huios) that reign in life. It is the huios that manifest the very character of God in the earth that leverages them to have an upper hand over creation and circumstances.

19  The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters!

Romans 8: 19

The entire creation awaits the manifestation of huios. The reigning in life is made possible through the character of Christ. It is not the confession that ensures reigning, but profession. There are some many confessing believers that lack the profession. Even in the secular world, one cannot be employed in any field merely by confession. One can only be employed on the basis of one’s profession. An engineer has a character of the school one attended. An engineer from a prestigious school will be more respected and trusted than one from an unknown school.

Your birth as a child of God is from above. You have been born as a teknon of the incorruptible seed, which is the word of God. Therefore, you have to work out the nature of God from inside out.

12  My beloved ones, just like you’ve always listened to everything I’ve taught you in the past, I’m asking you now to keep following my instructions as though I were right there with you. Now you must continue to make this new life fully manifested as you live in the holy awe of God—which brings you trembling into his presence. 

Philippians 2: 12

Your true nature is of God. Jesus reprimanded the Pharisees and told them that they were children of the devil because they were manifesting the nature of their father, the devil. In other words, the Pharisees were the huios of satan. But you and me are not children (teknon) of satan, but we are children of God, who are manifesting the nature and character of God as huios.
