Right Food For Fruitfulness
By Apostle Felix
26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.John 6: 26, 27
Food is essential for one’s well being. It is not the eating that determines good healthy, but its the kind of food eaten. Eating Kentucky Fried Chicken everyday can cause diseases that would eventually kill. Most of the diseases are caused by eating wrong types of food. In the beginning, God gave man what to eat. In Genesis chapter one, God gave man two types of food, natural and spiritual. He gave man to eat herbs, which was natural food from the garden, and then He gave Adam the word, which is spirit.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.Genesis 2: 16, 17
The herbs nourished the body and could only affect the body. But the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life was food for the spirit man. Adam experienced spiritual death upon eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The body did not drop dead immediately after eating from the tree, but Adam went on to live for nine hundred and thirty years. That was a long time for one to live. Adam lived that long even when he had been separated from God. He was separated from God because he ate food he was not supposed to eat. The food made him to lose a fruitful garden and driven into a wilderness.
23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
Genesis 3: 23
God had given man herbs to eat for his earthly body and the word for his spirit. Unfortunately, Adam chose a word that was contrary to God’s word. He chose to disobey. Man settled for the food satan had offered. Our Lord encountered a similar situation in the wilderness when satan tempted Him with turning stones into bread. He was in the wilderness praying and fasting when the devil came to try his luck with Jesus. The temptation was aimed at disqualifying Jesus to be the Savior of man. Adam was in the garden of fruitfulness, surrounded with abundance of food when he was tempted; while Jesus was tempted in the land of lack and scarcity, and yet He resisted the tempter. His response was taken from Deuteronomy chapter eight verse three.
3 He humbled you, causing you to be hungry, yet he fed you with manna that neither you nor your ancestors had known, in order to teach you that human beings are not to live by food alone—instead human beings are to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.
Deuteronomy 8: 3
Jesus quoted from the incidence when Israel had manna provided for them. They had gone for days without food and complained bitterly against Moses because they had no food. The manna Moses provided was not the food God had intended man to live on. The manna was provided because they complained and the manna was supplied to sustain the body and not the spirit. It is only the word of God that has the power to give life eternal.
4 Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘One must not live on bread alone, but on every word of God.”
Luke 4: 4
The devil suggested to Jesus to turn stones to bread in order to prove that He was the Son of God. Jesus resisted the devil and he fled from Him. This victory was very significant because it set a precedence that the devil is resisted with the word of God. Jesus is the word.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.John 6: 32, 33
Jesus is the bread of life from above that gives life. The bread which Moses gave to the children of Israel could not give life. They ate manna while they were in the wilderness for forty years. The manna ceased upon entering the promised land. That was because the promise could only be realized by the word of God. And Jesus is that word, who came to fulfill the promise of the Savior God had promised mankind. Therefore, the food you are feeding on will determine how fruitful your life will be in God. Feed on Jesus and your life will be fruitful.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
