Resurrection in the Shadows

Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.

Exodus 15: 11 – 14

The validity of scripture should be respected above our own experiences. Experience can be a danger to the authority of scripture when it is regarded more highly than scripture. Moses hit the rock twice and water gushed out but that does not make the Moses’ experience valid. God had told him to speak to the rock, but out of anger, Moses hit the stone twice.

The manifestation of some kind does not mean God has endorsed the practice. It is very important to stay in the confines of the revealed will of God, than relying on some practices that are not backed by scripture. In the time past, God spoke by the prophets, but in this era God has spoken to us by His Son, Jesus Christ.

Throughout our history God has spoken to our ancestors by his prophets in many different ways. The revelation he gave them was only a fragment at a time, building one truth upon another. But to us living in these last days, God now speaks to us openly in the language of a Son, the appointed Heir of everything, for through him God created the panorama of all things and all time.

Hebrews 1: 1, 2

In the time past, God spoke to man using types and shadows. He communicated the message of redemption through Israel experiences and ritual worship. But He is no longer doing that because Jesus, the Son of God came to fulfill the message God had hidden in types and shadows. The message of redemption was concealed.

Thank God for Jesus, who was made manifest as the substance. He manifested as the revelation of which was concealed in the shadows and types. Jesus is the real deal. It does not matter what you have been experiencing in your life. Whether your experience has been working or not. If it is based on types and shadows, don’t trust it. Let your trust be in Christ alone.
