Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me and you will recover your life. I will show you how to take a real rest.
Matthew 11: 28 Message
By Apostle Felix
And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother’s house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
Ruth 1: 8
Just imagine with me if Ruth had decided to stay in Moab and her sister in marriage, Orpah (not Oprah) had decided to go with Naomi to Judah. That would have been a game changer for Orpah. Orpah would have been in Jesus’ genealogy. The book of Ruth would have been Orpah. She was going to be married to Boaz. We do not hear about Orpah, and we do not even know what really became of her. Probably, she was just an ordinary woman in Moab, reminiscing about her past life when she was married.
Ruth made a decision that changed her life and the life of Naomi, her mother-in-law. She decided to follow Naomi and worship her God. The God whom Naomi worshiped, was worshiped through types and shadows. So, Ruth was introduced to types and shadows as a way of worshiping God. But God had a way of introducing Himself to Ruth. God introduced Himself as one looking for relationship than just a religion. Ruth encountered religion when she came to Judah. But later encounter a relationship with a kinsman redeemer.
Religion is about works as opposed to grace which is of faith. Faith is rest in the finished work of Christ.
We know full well that we don’t receive God’s perfect righteousness as a reward for keeping the law, but by the faith of Jesus, the Messiah! His faithfulness, not ours, has saved us, and we have received God’s perfect righteousness. Now we know that God accepts no one by the keeping of religious laws!
Galatians 2: 16 TPT
The rest Ruth found was due to her willingness to know God. She really wanted to know God, whom her mother-in-law worshiped. Her desire to know God paved a way to encounter the rest she needed. The knowledge of Christ leads us to that rest. Orpah missed the opportunity to experience the rest because she had no desire for God. May you find rest in all areas of your life through the knowledge of Christ. Be blessed!
