Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me and you will recover your life. I will show you how to take a real rest.
Matthew 11: 28 Message
By Apostle Felix
Then Naomi her mother-in-law said unto her, my daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
Ruth 3: 1
This is an amazing story about a widowed woman, Ruth. She was a Moabite woman, whose husband was an Israelite, a son of Naomi and Elimelech. Both her husband and father-in-law died while in her home country. Her mother-in-law, Naomi then decided to go back to her country, Judah. Ruth, the daughter in law of Naomi insisted on going back to Judah. Of course, Naomi had two daughters in law, but one decided to remain in her home country upon Naomi’s insistence.
Rest is a place of supply. It is impossible to experience God’s supply when you are not in the rest of God. Jesus made an open invitation to all to come into His rest. Naomi and Ruth found themselves in a very devastating situation. The supply of food was not enough for the two of them. Ruth was daily scrabbling for food to feed herself and her mother-in-law.
It was a very humiliating situation, but that did not deter Ruth. She had to do that daily, working hard for less. But there was something Naomi knew that Ruth did not know. Ruth did not know that the field she gleaned corn from belonged to Boaz, the family’s kinsman redeemer. A kinsman redeemer is a person with the responsibility to act on behalf of a relative who was in trouble, danger or need. He is a redeemer and a vindicator.
As long as Ruth did not know about the kinsman, she continued to toil in the field, getting just enough. Even though Boaz was aware of his responsibility as kinsman redeemer, he could not do much because Ruth was ignorant of the privilege. Her ignorance drove her to work like a slave in a field which was supposedly hers. She toiled until Naomi advised her to find rest at Boaz’ feet.
And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
