Possibility through Envisage

Possibility through Envisage

By Apostle Felix

Rom 4:18  Against all odds, when it looked hopeless, Abraham believed the promise and expected God to fulfill it. He took God at his word, and as a result he became the father of many nations. God’s declaration over him came to pass: “Your descendants will be so many that they will be impossible to count!”

Romans 4: 18

Gen 13:14  And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
Gen 13:15  For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
Gen 13:16  And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

Genesis 13: 14 – 16

Abraham was a man just like anyone else. He was appointed by God not on his own merit but by the grace of God. He had so many limitations in his life, just like any ordinary person today. He had a challenge of wife’s barreness, Sarah. She was unable to conceive and bear Abraham a son. The couple lived with the promise of God for a son for about twenty five years. It was a trying a moment for the couple. However, Abraham did not relent or surrender to fear. What did he do instead? He glorified the Lord.

Envisage is the ability to conceive the future as a possibility. It is the ability to see beyond the current circumstances and see possibility. Oftentimes, people get entangled in a web of current negative circumstances, hence become victims of their circumstances. Abraham was once entangled in his circumstance so much that he fell for the idea of producing Ishmael. The couple decided to help God to produce a son. Abraham lost the sight of God’s promise. He stopped envisaging and Ishmael was the result. He stopped seeing possibility of Sarah ever conceiving a child. What keeps people to stay focused even in tough times is the ability to see possibility – envisage. Tough times will definitely come, but its tough people that will out last the tough times. Envisaging is at the centre of overcoming tough times. People that have decided not to doubt the word of God. No matter the storm, they keep believing the word of God.

4  As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5  Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6  And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

Genesis 17: 4 – 6

After Abraham had produced Ishmael, God appeared to him with one view in mind, to remind him about the son He had promised him through Sarah. The man’s faith had weakened because of his wife’s condition which had gotten worse due to old age. He needed a word from the Lord to revamp his faith. Possibility is facilitated by several factors such as review and envision. Abraham’s encounter with God allowed him to review his act that produced Ishmael. He later realized that Ishmael was not the promised son because he did not come through Sarah. The encounter made him to start envisioning the promised son yet to be born by Sarah.

Child of God, no matter how long it has taken, do not settle for the works of the flesh. Even though you have missed the will of God concerning your life, there is always room to conceive His will again. It is never too late to stop envisioning. Your age should not be an excuse to stop envisioning. He is not done with you. Envisage possibility this month of August. God bless you.
