Peace With God

Peace With God

By Apostle Felix

1  Our faith in Jesus transfers God’s righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes. This means we can now enjoy true and lasting peace with God, all because of what our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, has done for us.

Romans 5: 1

The Greek word for peace in Romans chapter five verse one is eirene, which means one, prosperity, rest, quietness. The word prosperity is not referring to having money, but wholeness. It is suggesting oneness with God. It is also suggesting to be accepted and having access by faith to God’s grace. Peace is finding rest in God, having been forgiven and set free from religion to having relationship with God. Jesus spoke to religious people of His time to come to Him and find rest, which peace.

28  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11: 28

Peace cannot be attained while attempting to access grace by works. Grace is attained by faith, that is believing what the Lord Jesus has done for us. There are two yokes an individual can choose from: the yoke of Christ or the yoke of Moses.

29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Matthew 11: 29

Jesus was addressing a bunch of religious followers of Moses, who were pathetically fanatics. These men were living by the letter of Moses and because of that had no peace with God. It was impossible for man to please God by his own effort of keeping the law. Man had no capacity to keep the law without breaking one. The law became a burden to man and could not bear. God knew from the beginning that man could not keep the law. The law was not given to give peace between God and man. The law by itself cannot impart peace. Peace can only be found in Jesus.

Jesus made an invitation to man to come and find rest. Jesus lived under the law dispensation and He did not break the law. Though His accusers accused Him falsely, He was innocent were the law was concerned. He fulfilled the law and yet died as a criminal all because of man. He had to be condemned as a law breaker so that man could find peace with God. There is no peace outside Jesus. Man has tried to find peace in other things such as material possession, indulgence, and even in religion but all fall short of securing lasting peace that man needs. They do promise peace, but all they can offer is momentarily relieve. Religion too, promises peace but all it can deliver is relieve. Lasting peace is only found in Jesus. He is our peace with God.
