My Grace Journey…4
By Apostle Felix
You Are Not A Servant, But A Son
2 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.Genesis 15: 2 – 4
witchcraft is real, and is very operative in the church today. In order to evade it, we need to understand our sonship in Christ. Witchcraft is not only the practice of sorcery, but is subjecting people to manipulation tendencies in order to get one’s way. It is the control and domination over people’s wills and lives. Apostle Paul described one who had left faith in Christ and His finished and had reverted to the keeping of the law, as one bewitched.
1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Galatians 3: 1
The Galatians became under a spell because they had allowed someone to manipulate them into believing another gospel which Paul did not preach. The gospel was work based in order to attain full righteousness in God. The kind of gospel makes believers to start believing that through their works will be justified. And we all that salvation is by grace through faith, and not by works, Ephesians 2: 8. The gospel of Christ is not demanding anything from us in order to be saved and blessed. God gave and we receive as sons. Servants work for something for them to receive. Sons do not have to work, but simply to be born into the family.
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Galatians 2: 16
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Galatians 3: 10
In 2003, while in Botswana as a missionary, the Lord spoke to me regarding the subject at hand. He spoke in a very unconventional way for me. It was a word that stopped me in my tracks. I was walking home from town, and on the way the Lord spoke and said, ‘You are not a servant, but a son.’ Since then, all I knew was that I had to serve God in order to qualify as a son. I had the order distorted which distorted the way I related with God. My relationship with God was from servitude to sonship. But that should not be the case. It has to be from sonship to servitude. I should serve God because I am His son, and not vice versa. The kind of thinking makes one vulnerable to deception and manipulation. The manipulation in church today thrives on this grounds that one should serve in order to qualify. Witchcraft in church has found it’s free way because many are relegated from sonship to servitude. Before the enemy takes one captive, he will convince one that their works largely contribute to them been blessed by God. You were blessed before you did anything for God. The blessing is the matter of the birth and not works. The prodigal son was received back into the family not the merits of his work, but on the merits of his father’s graciousness. Works are good, but should not be the reason for our justification. Serve the Lord because you are already justified. You are a son of the Most God. Give to your local church because you have a relationship with your FATHER. Do not give because you want some favours from God. Give, serve and do good because you are a son, and not a servant.
