Limitless Possibilities

Limitless Possibilities

By Apostle Felix

1  And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
2  And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
3  Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

1 Kings 17: 1 – 3

17  Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18  And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

James 5: 17, 18

Elijah was a man just like anyone of us. He was subject to similar struggles as we are subjected to. He had his own fears and challenges in life. He was not perfect, but yet believed in the perfect God. This man had his own breaking points in his life. He almost gave up at one point and expressed enormous stress. He wanted to die. That was his breaking point. He just felt he could not go on like that and live like a fugitive in his own country. His life was not all comfy, as we may think. It was rough. He once lived on food that the ravens provided and water from the brook. He was isolated from the community and his family. The man was lonely. And what was his conclusion?  His conclusion was that, he was the only prophet in Israel, otherwise they would be many other prophets with him in the wilderness. This is the man who prayed that it should not rain and the rains did fall for three and half years. He demonstrated such an outstanding feat that affected even the economy of the kingdom. That was limitless possibility.

The purpose of today’s devotion is to remind you and myself that limitless possibilities are at our disposal. Sometimes, we get overwhelmed with emotional distresses that tend to weigh us down. You may encounter the supernatural power of God and the next moment you are facing challenges that you may not have solutions for. You just received a powerful word from the Lord regarding your future and how God is lifting you. And then you get home, only to be met with all the unpaid bills and empty fridge. The water is disconnected and there is no money to buy electricity. The word you received from God and the current situation are totally incompatible. That alone may make you to start doubting what the Lord had revealed to you earlier. Our God is a good God. He makes the limitless possibility manifest in the seemingly impossible circumstances.

8  And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
9  Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

1 Kings 17: 8, 9

The goodness of God is demonstrated in His ability to provide for us even when our faith is at its lowest. He is God who is limitless. He is not limited to the resources around us. He is able to do over and above. He ordered Elijah to go to a widowed woman. Unlikely person to be referred to for help. The woman was also in dire need. She needed God to come through. She had just lost her husband who left a pile of debts behind. And the creditors were contemplating on getting her sons, the only solace she had. But what she did not know was that she had oil in her house that had the potential to fill many containers. You may be feeling handicapped right now, but there is a gift, which is oil in your life that has limitless possibilities for greatness. The woman’s oil kept flowing until there was no more containers. That was limitless possibilities. Do not despise your gift in its state of  smallness. That’s a seed with a potential to turn into a forest.
