In the Grave
By Apostle Felix
Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass. Luke 24: 12
The wait was over. The One who died and was buried rose from the dead on the third. He did not come out of the grave the way He was buried. He was buried in weakness, but He resurrected in the power of the Holy Spirit. His resurrection was a game changer. We are talking about Jesus and His resurrection. His death and resurrection is very significant to note. This is because His death and resurrection describes man’s life before and after.
Jesus died as man and buried as man. It was a period of judgement of sin. The grave symbolizes death, a separation of the spirit from the body. However, Jesus experienced spiritual death, when the Father separated Himself from the Son, because the Son had become sin. The separation from the Father led Him to the grave. He entered the grave as man, who has been separated from God and laden with all the curses. But He rose from the dead as God.
43 The body is “sown” in decay, but will be raised in immortality. It is “sown” in humiliation, but will be raised in glorification. 44 It is “sown” in weakness but will be raised in power. If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 For it is written: The first man, Adam, became a living soul. The last Adam became the life-giving Spirit. 1 Corinthians 15: 43 – 45
Jesus was buried as a mortal man, but was raised immortality, never to die again. He defeated death and satan forever on our behalf. He entered the grave bound, but He left the grave free of grave cloths. He left the grave cloths in the grave. The risen Christ cannot be bound. And everyone who has believed in Him cannot be bound too. Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus Christ but yet he came out bound because death and sin had not yet been defeated.
But now that death and sin has been defeated, all the grave cloths from the past life has been taken off of your life. When Jesus rose from the dead, you rose with Him too. Whatever had bound your life stayed behind in the grave, the place of death and sin. You are now a new creation, the old is gone and the new has come.
Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new creation. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new. 2 Corinthians 5: 17
You are a new creation, not a renovated being but a new creation. In the new creation, we do not look around for the old. We look out for the new in Christ. We do not look for the cloths of the dead. You have been resurrected and Christ has given you His life, not death. Jesus carried all the curses, sicknesses, condemnation and that belongs to the devil and left them in the grave. Do not go in there and start scavenging. You are the resurrected, not the buried. You are not Lazarus, either. You are a son of God, who has been freed once and for all.
So if the Son sets you free from sin, then become a true son and be unquestionably free! John 8: 36
