CHRIST REVEALED THE KEY TO OVERCOMING DECEPTION

Throughout our history God has spoken to our ancestors by his prophets in many different ways. The revelation he gave them was only a fragment at a time, building one truth upon another. But to us living in these last days, God now speaks to us openly in the language of a Son, the appointed Heir of everything, for through him God created the panorama of all things and all time. Hebrews 1: 1, 2

The most important activity of the church is the teaching of God’s Word. And the teaching of God’s Word should be Christ centred – Christology. The theology of the church is Christology. It is the Christology that leads to soteriology. The teaching of Theology without Christology produces religious fanatics. Judaism is a religion that believes in the existence of God, but yet denies and rejects the deity of Christ. The theology may be correct but it may not give life. Their good theology is dead without Christ.

Delightfully loved friends, don’t trust every spirit, but carefully examine what they say to determine if they are of God, because many false prophets have mingled into the world. Here’s the test for those with the genuine Spirit of God: they will confess Jesus as the Christ who has come in the flesh. Everyone who does not acknowledge that Jesus is from God has the spirit of antichrist, which you heard was coming and is already active in the world. 1 John 4: 1 – 3

The scripture above is warning us against false prophets and their false teachings. John admonished the church to test every spirit for the purpose of knowing if they are of God or not. The confession that Jesus is the Christ should go beyond verbal confession. The confession should show in our beliefs and behavior. One cannot believe in Christ and His finished work and continue with the fetish and religious practices. When the church substitute Christ for elements, the church enters dangerous grounds. Christ our substitutionary sacrifice, fulfilled all what the shadows and types represented. He came to fulfill the Old Testament rituals that were shadows and types of His death and resurrection.

All the Jewish feasts mentioned in the Bible, such as the Passover were all fulfilled in Christ. Christ was concealed in the feasts and other Jewish religious practices. Practicing such today, conceals the Christ from the people. Deception will be the result when Christ is concealed. It is fatal practicing that which Christ has already fulfilled. The church has to awaken to this truth in order to live above deception. The merchandise of all the spiritual items by false prophets is founded on Christ concealed. When Christ get revealed, they will all go out of business.
