THE PROPHETIC

The prophetic ministry has taken a centre stage in the world today. It has become a trademark. One cannot be successful in ministry if he is not carrying a prophet title. Why is the prophetic ministry so much a desired ministry as a means to deceive many? Jesus warned the church and the world that false prophets shall rise and deceive many.

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Matthew 24: 11

Perversion is the only thing that can make the prophetic lucrative as it is today. Perversion is simply a distortion or corruption of the original purpose, meaning, or state of something. The Godly intent of the prophetic cannot rake in money. It has to be distorted or corrupted in order to be monetized. False prophets have been in business before Christ came into this world. The Kings that ruled over Israel in apostate state always surrounded themselves with false prophets, who were prophets of Baal.

Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

1 Kings 18: 22

The prophets of Baal prophesied the desires of the kings. These were not used of the Spirit of God, but were agents of the devil, who were possessed by divining spirits. The divining spirits prophesy the desires of people, what people want to hear. The kings resisted and persecuted the prophets of God because they prophesied the desires of God.

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king’s hand.

1 Kings 22: 12

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil? And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

1 Kings 22: 18, 19

King Ahab preferred the prophets of Baal to Micaiah, the prophet of God. Why? Because the prophets of Baal told him what he wanted to hear. The prophets of Baal’s prophecies are for the itching ears, whose desire is to have their personal needs met as opposed to knowing God’s will.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.
