Greater is He

4 Little children, you can be certain that you belong to God and have conquered them, for the One who is living in you is far greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They belong to this world and they articulate the spirit of this world, and the world listens to them. 6 But we belong to God, and whoever truly knows God listens to us. Those who refuse to listen to us do not belong to God. That is how we can know the difference between the spirit of truth and the spirit of deceit. 1 John 4: 4 – 6

The life of Christ in us is so powerful to immune against deception. The letter of first John was written to address the prevailing deception in the early church. Deception is an old problem and the early church dealt with it too. The apostle John addressed this problem of deception and warned the church about the presence of the anti-Christ spirit. The anti-Christ spirit is the ideology or rather doctrine that opposes the doctrine of Christ. The Bible warns us about the doctrines of devils that have infiltrated the church, even today. The believers battle has got to do with the pressure to drift from the truth. The enemy works tireless to infiltrate his doctrines into the church. Most of the New Testament letters were written to correct the wrong teachings that were perpetuated by men whose interest were to convert the church to their beliefs.

8 Anyone who comes to you with a different message than the grace gospel that you have received will have the curse of God come upon them! For even if we or an angel appeared before you, to give you a different gospel than what we have already proclaimed, God’s curse will be upon them. Galatians 1: 8

The false gospel has a tendency to devalue man and undermine the redemption work of Christ. There is no human dignity in religion, it has such an inclination to humiliate. The gospel of Christ lifts the value of man. That’s what Jesus came to do. Unfortunately, due to rampart deception in the church today and few believers that have been schooled in the word of God, many have been destroyed by the so called men and women of God. These men and women take advantage of individuals who do not necessarily know they are in Christ. They are empty of the word of God, and are a prey of satan

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Timothy 3: 6 – 7

This is a sad reality of women that have been captured by subtle men, and abused in the name of God. This thing happens because believers do not really know who is in them. If only believers may realize who lives in their lives, cannot at all submit themselves to deception. ‘Greater is He that is you than he that is in the world’ is in the context of how the spirit of falsehood has taken the centre stage of the affairs of this world. Only the spirit led believers will be able to overcome. Child of God, you are born of God and therefore the Spirit of truth is inside you. By the Spirit of truth, you are able to discern the spirit of error. No true believer is tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. Be stable because of who is in you, Christ Jesus.
