Dominion

26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

The Hebrew word for Dominion in Genesis 1: 26 is ‘Radar.’ The word radar means, ‘To tread down, to subjugate, to prevail against, to reign, to make rule over.’ It is a word that suggests reigning in life. Dominion comes with territory. One can only have dominion over a territory. The first man, Adam was given the earth as his territory to rule over. The earth has been entrusted to man for the purpose of management rather than absolute ownership. Dominion in that context is the stewarding of the earth.

16  The heavens belong to our God; they are his alone, but he has given us the earth and put us in charge.

Psalm 115: 16

Jesus gave a parable of the talents in Matthew 25: 14. The parable was about stewarding in which talents were entrusted to three men. The two men, who were given five and two talents respectively went ahead and multiplied which was given to them. But the one, who was given one talent went and buried it. The owner recommended the two who multiplied which was given to them. But he condemned the one was did not multiply it. The Bible says that the talents were given according to each person’s ability. The talents were given to them by man according to their human ability. Since the calling upon your life is from God, the ability to carry it out cannot be of your own but the Lord’s.

28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

When God assigned man, He was blessed him for the assignment. Dominion operates by the blessing, not money. The blessing is far more superior than money. Money came from a tree, but the blessing is from the Lord. Its the blessing of the Lord that makes rich.

22  The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Proverbs 10: 22

In the beginning, God created the earth and its fullness by the word. Of course, God’s word and the blessing cannot be separated from each other. The word is the blessing and the blessing is the word of God. The blessing is invoked by words. Everything God wanted to see, He spoke the word. And God blessed them, and God said unto them…. What God said is the content of the blessing. God said to them, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue and have dominion. The blessing is not a car or a house, but the content of God’s word. Therefore, dominion operates by the blessing. Where there is dominion, you will find fruitfulness, replenishing, subduing and multiplication. The blessing of the Lord makes the material things to be made manifest, and not vice versa.
