Do Not Be Afraid
By Apostle Felix
27 Then Jesus said, “Be brave and don’t be afraid. I am here!”
28 Peter shouted out, “Lord, if it’s really you, then have me join you on the water!”
29 “Come and join me,” Jesus replied. So Peter stepped out onto the water and began to walk toward Jesus.
30 But when he realized how high the waves were, he became frightened and started to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he cried out.
31 Jesus immediately stretched out his hand and lifted him up and said, “What little faith you have! Why would you let doubt win?”Matthew 14: 27 – 31
Fear is a tormentor. It has more captives than anything else. Fear has robbed many of their joy on earth. It has buried many great dreams than you can ever imagine. So many died with their dreams unfulfilled, not because of unavailability of resources but because of fear. It has turned great people into paupers. Every miracle is just courage away. Apostle Paul talked about fear to Timothy in this way:
7 For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control.
2 Timothy 1: 7
Apostle Paul was encouraging the young Timothy to fan into a flame and rekindle the fire of God in his life. He was probably complacent about his calling and the exercising of his God given gifts. The reluctance did not sit well with Paul. The young man , Timothy was passive due to fear. Paul had to remind him that fear is not from the Lord, but a spirit from satan whose purpose is to limit you in manifesting what God has invested in your life. Fear is not a godly virtue. It is not something that one should tolerate. It is an evil designed to suppress God expressions in one’s life. No one can express the God given potential while wallowing in fear. It is not possible. Every great feat is accomplished on the plane of courage and boldness. Whatever you would want to accomplish this coming year, you need to go against every fear. David is our example who actually went against the fear of Goliath and overcame. Do you think there was no voice whispering in David’s ears saying how Goliath will kill him. Of course, there many voices such as his brothers’ king Saul’s and Goliath’s voice. However, he ignored all those voices and amplified the voice of God in his life. He said…
…Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
1 Samuel 17: 45
David had to speak his conviction and advanced against what everyone feared and he prevailed. Your prevailing this coming year depends on your redemptive work of Christ convictions, declare them loud and act on them. Do not be passive or compromise your convictions.
This coming year, walk and live in love. Love is a force. Love is not weakness. The world has taught us to believe that the fruit of the Spirit is weakness, such as patience, humility, gentleness and so forth. Love is power. It is a terror to satan and his cohorts. He cannot stand the presence of love. This is the reason why he cannot stand Jesus, because Jesus is love. Jesus does not have love, but He is love.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.1 John 4: 17, 18
