Divine Narure

4 through which the most great and precious promises have been given to us, that through these you may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped from the corruption and lust in the world. 2 Peter 1: 4

You are the only being that has been made in the image of God and after His likeness. You have been made to represent God on earth, and to be an extension of God’s authority over all creation. When God created man, He gave him dominion by the blessing. God eulogized man for the purpose of empowerment. Man eulogizes another fellow man at the grave site, but that is not the case with God. He eulogizes us before we are informed in our mothers’ wombs. An eulogy is simply to speak well of someone.

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Jeremiah 1: 5

Your existence here on earth is not an accident. You did not find yourself on earth without God’s consent. Your are God’s decision. It is Him that decided your existence way before your parents met together. You may resemble your parents’ physical features and mannerisms, but your real you is of God.

Your existence is not originated in the will of man, but God. He is your source and sustainer. Jesus, our Lord always addressed God as His Father. And that provoked the religious people a lot. Why? Because the address of God as a Father made Jesus to be like God. A father produces after his kind. So the Jews understood that analogy and did not like Jesus’ claim as being the Son of God.

17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. 18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. John 5: 17, 18

The devil is not so much intimidated by your working of miracles per say, but what intimidates the devil is your relationship with God – the Father and son relationship. Just that understanding of your relationship with God as Father will put the devil under you. If you have noticed, Jesus never spent the whole time casting out devils and interviewing them. He cast them out with a word, once. Every time the devils saw Jesus, they would scream and say, ‘we know who you are, the Son of the Living God.’

33 In the congregation there was a demonized man, who screamed out with a loud voice, 34 “Hey, you! Go away and leave us alone. I know who you are. You’re Jesus of Nazareth, God’s holy one. Why are you coming to meddle with us? You have come to destroy us already!” Luke 4: 33, 34

The enemy is not afraid of your stature, status in life, education, probably your great name, your social associates, your financial power, and everything earthly. All those may be good, but not powerful enough to put satan in his place. It is the nature of God in you that scares the devil to the core. Just the fact that you are born of God is enough to scatter the entire kingdom of satan away from you. The nature of God in you is a terror to satan and his cohorts. Jesus said that when you see devils been cast out by the finger of God, just know that satan’s kingdom has been defeated.

28 On the other hand, if I drive out demons by the power of the Spirit of God, then the end of Satan’s kingdom has come! Matthew 12: 28

Satan should not be treated like one who is fighting with us on equal rights grounds. No, he has been stripped off all power by the Lord Jesus Christ. And in turn, Jesus has given you and me the power and authority over satan.
