Discipline For Success

Discipline For Success

By Apostle Felix

3  Those who cling to these words will receive discipline to demonstrate wisdom in every relationship and to choose what is right and just and fair.

Proverbs 1: 3

Each year, we see fancy themes such as ‘New season, the year of taking over, open doors, the year of favor, the year of soaring and many more.’ It is such a good thing to have a theme for a local church or an individual, but one of the factors that would make a difference in realizing the theme is discipline. Without it, all the fancy themes will just be unfulfilled cliches. We get good themes each year, we do not change our ways of doings things. We cannot  expect doing the same things in the same ways, and expect different results. Discipline is one of the keys taht we do things differently in order to accomplish great things. There is no magic about it.

12  It’s true that our freedom allows us to do anything, but that doesn’t mean that everything we do is good for us. I’m free to do as I choose, but I choose to never be enslaved to anything.

1 Corinthians 6: 12

Discipline is a refraining factor in our lives. It dictates how and where should our energies be deployed. Discipline informs us to organize our lives in the order of priority. It does not leave life to chance. It predicts the outcome of its actions. Life is predictable. You cannot feed on KFC for 365 days of the year and expect to have a sound health. You do not need a prophet to tell you how your health will be in December. You can have an idea how your health will be like. You cannot expect a financial breakthrough while lacking financial discipline. You cannot expect to grow spiritually this year, while you are in the habit of staying away from fellowship with other believers for any reason. It takes discipline to have success in any area of life.

In Africa, we like pursuing miracles on the expense of employing discipline in our lives. Church people gather in hope of receiving miracle money. That is a silliest thing that we have seen in church lately. How on earth can people gather expecting God rain some miracle money into their pockets, wallets, handbags and bank accounts. Money is a product of work, not miracles. And work is governed by discipline. You do not need miracles to make money. You just need good working ethics. Can we change our ways this year.

Discipline demands that you be on schedule. And you cannot be on schedule without a plan and vision. We have a lot of time wasters due to lack of plan and vision. Let us be disciplined enough this year, get a plan and vision. A plan tells us when something has to be done and when to finish it. It helps us to manage time wisely. The reason for so many failures and disappointments in life is not necessarily because people are dull, but is because they are disorganized and do not have a system to maximize productivity within the time at hand. Discipline is the key to succeed this year. With that fancy theme, put your hands to your plan and go to work. Results do not appear by chasing fantasies. They do appear by deliberate and intentional effort governed by discipline everyday.
