Commitment: A Requirement for A Fruitful Life
By Apostle Felix
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.John 12: 24 – 26
Fruitfulness requires commitment. It is the seed’s commitment to remaining in the soil that guarantees germination. Without it, a seed will remain alone. Every seed has the potential to multiply, but the determining factor is its commitment to the process of germination. So, the same is true with every single person on earth. Each person alive today has amazing potential to multiply and increase in whatsoever one commits to do. It is something inherent in every person. However, fruitfulness can only be made manifest when all conditions are met and one of the conditions is commitment.
Christians are the most interesting people on earth. They are more oriented to miracles than to principles. The earth and nature itself, runs on principles. A gestation period for a human pregnancy is nine months. One cannot skip the process of gestation, unless a baby is born prematurely. Even then, the baby will be kept in incubators until the baby fully develops. The condition is that the baby should be in the womb for nine months to reach full maturity. That’s the commitment a every mother should endure. Otherwise, any attempt to try to avoid the process, may put both the month and the baby at risk.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Luke 9: 62
We are living in a generation that wants instant success and prosperity. We are witnessing a generation degenerating morally due to pressure to succeed speedily. It is a generation that cannot wait for the process and live by principles. And this has led many to seek occultic powers in order to make it big in life. There are so many people around who are after success and yet are not willing to commit to the process. Real fruitfulness is one that undergoes through the process of falling to the ground and dies. One should be ready to die to fleshly desires and appetites.
Commit to:
Renewing of your mind. No one can rise above the state of his mind. Your life can only arrive where your mind has already been. The renewing of the mind is a commitment. It is not achieved by the laying of hands. It is a conscious decision one has to make.
2 Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes. Romans 12: 2
Practicing the Word of God. Hearing the word of God and not practicing it is deception. Word practicing makes the practitioner immune to deception. It is the practicing of the word that makes one fruitful.
22 Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception. So always let his Word become like poetry written and fulfilled by your life!
James 1: 22
Serving God. It is not possible to commit yourself to God without service. Your commitment to God will show in the way you serve God. Serving God may include, winning souls, disciple making, church service attendance, serving in a local church, giving offerings, and following up on brothers and sisters.
10 Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace.
1 Peter 4: 10
Following God’s instructions. God does instruct us on what to do. He does that through His word. No instruction from the Lord will contradict His word. And He does instruct us so we can bear much fruit upon following the instruction.
33 Listen to my counsel, for my instruction will enlighten you. You’ll be wise not to ignore it.
