Breaking Life Limitations

10  And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
11  When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.
12  Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehemjudah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men for an old man in the days of Saul. 

1 Samuel 17:10 – 12

Life is about going against the tides and storms of life. Every man celebrated today had to overcome storms to get where the person is now. Many want the glory, but avoid the process that makes men who houses the glory. The young man had to do something that everyone was afraid to do. Goliath was a life limiting factor in the army of Israel. The armies of Israel were reminded of their inadequacies, every time Goliath came out to challenge them. They retreated from the battle line and took refuge in caves in fear. There was a line the armies could not cross because of a limitation that had been placed on them. Crossing that line to face Goliath had to demand a lot of encourage to do so. Every soldier knew about the reward of defeating Goliath but none dared to do so.

26  And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
27  And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.

1 Samuel 17: 26, 27

David appeared on the battlefield when Goliath was challenging the armies of Israel, and cursing them by his gods. David was vexed by the Philistine’s defiance of the armies of Israel. But shockingly, the army was retreating and running away from the Philistine. These were men, known to be warriors and their reaction to Goliath’s challenges were very annoying to David. Instead of joining them, David decided to break the limitation. He had to go against what the armies feared. David’s prominence was born that day when he went ahead to face Goliath.

55  And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said unto Abner, the captain of the host, Abner, whose son is this youth? And Abner said, As thy soul liveth, O king, I cannot tell.

The breaking of the limitation, made David to come into the limelight of power. He came from an obscure family that had no connection to the corridors of power. David was a nonentity, but his daring attitude to break the limitation made him a David we know today.

You are not an exceptional. Your destiny is great. You may feel like there are limitations on your life that are causing you not to see progress. I encourage you not to go round seeking deliverance from a demon of limitation. It doesn’t exist. David never went around seeking deliverance from a spirit of Goliath. Instead, he confronted Goliath and slew him. Confront your fears and dare to step out. Breaking life limitations take the tenacity to confront your fears that have been intimidating you for a while now. You may feel like hiding into your secret cave and forget about the challenges of life. No! Don’t go into hiding. Every victory is at the centre of problems. David became a national hero over night. He broke a national limitation and he became a national celebrity. It takes courage and boldness to break limitations. Personal, family, community or national limitations cannot resist a man or woman who is courageous and anointed of God. You are courageous and anointed. Go, and break life limitations!
