Blessed For Expansion

Blessed For Expansion

By Apostle Felix

1  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Genesis 12: 1 – 3

Abraham was handpicked by God to establish a lineage through which the Messiah would come. He was not chosen because he was an upright man; in fact, Abraham was an idol worshipper. His election was a matter of pure grace, completely unearned and undeserved. God blessed him not because of any action on Abraham’s part to provoke or merit it, but solely out of divine grace and for the sake of the promised seed.
Consequently, the blessing bestowed upon Abraham was never intended for him alone, but for all the nations of the world. However, this portion of scripture has frequently been used to promote a highly controversial narrative: the idea that unconditionally blessing the modern nation of Israel guarantees divine blessing in return. Zionism has utilized this interpretation to advance the political agenda of a “Greater Israel.” Unfortunately, many believers support this agenda under the impression that they are supporting God’s chosen people. This raises a fundamental question: what did God actually mean when He said, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse”?

16  Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Galatians 3: 16

The promise was made to Abraham and his seed, who is Christ Jesus. This promise was not about a physical nation, but rather a spiritual nation birthed through Christ. Therefore, God was not declaring that anyone who fails to bless Abraham’s physical descendants would be cursed. Instead, the “curse” God referred to signifies the rejection of the Seed—Jesus Christ—since a curse is ultimately the absence of God’s presence.
Consequently, the promise God made to Abraham found its true fulfilment in Christ. The blessing was intended for all nations of the world through Him, rather than a single group. God’s intention from the very beginning was to bless all of humanity, not just one ethnicity. He is not an ethnically oriented God; He is for all mankind and shows no favouritism.

28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:29  And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 3: 28

God initially blessed humanity in the Garden of Eden. Treating mankind as a singular nation, He commanded them to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. However, humanity sinned against the Lord, causing a deep spiritual separation that brought about a curse. Desiring to restore this blessing to all mankind, God sought a man through whom the promised Seed would come.
That Seed is Jesus Christ, who came through Abraham’s lineage and perfectly fulfilled every requirement to reverse the curse. As the ultimate fulfillment of the promise made to Abraham, Christ is now the sole source of divine favor; humanity can only experience true blessing in Him, rather than through any other individual, nation, or ethnic group.
