17  By living in God, love has been brought to its full expression in us so that we may fearlessly face the day of judgment, because all that Jesus now is, so are we in this world. 

1 John 4: 17

A believer that has been perfected in love has no fear. Fear, therefore, is as the result of not walking in the love of God. Love has been poured in the hearts of believers and all the believers ought to do is simply to recognize and live by it in their lives. Real freedom is to learn how to live and walk in the love of God. Jesus summarized the entire law in loving God and man. The one who loves is the person who knows God.

7  Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 4: 7

A loving person reflects the very nature of God, which is love. God is predominantly love. He does not have love, but He is love, Himself. Therefore, He does not fear. It is impossible for God to be afraid. This would make sense why Jesus never displayed fear in any given situation. Can it possible for a believer to live fear free? Yes, it is possible. This is because a believer is one that is born of God, born of the incorruptible seed, which is the word of God.

23  For through the eternal and living Word of God you have been born again. And this “seed” that he planted within you can never be destroyed but will live and grow inside of you forever. 

1 Peter 1: 23

If you are born again, then you have been born of God’s own seed, the word. You are God’s own child. Since you are a child of God, you are like your Father. As He is, so are you in this world. God is a faith God, so are you. With God all things are possible.

27  Jesus looked at them and replied, “With people it is impossible, but not with God—God makes all things possible!”

A believer does not live in fear of the future or rather uncertain about his/her eternal security. The fear some believers have about life after this life is due to lack of understanding of God’s love. The understanding and appreciating the love of God dispels all the fears one may have. Perfect love casts away.

18  Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection. 

1 John 4: 18

Child of God, do not be fearful. Your life is secure in God’s love. The love of God never fails and it can never fail you. God loves you. The confidence of a believer is to know that God loves you and accept the love of God in your love.
