Acts That Lead To A Fruitful Life
By Apostle Felix
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Matthew 5: 2
There are acts that lead to fruitfulness. Life is all about sow and reaping. It is about cause and effect. You can only get back what you give to life. Life is a big field where each and everyone sows. No one can escape this the natural process of sowing and reaping. God intended nature to produce after its kind. Everything God created was meant to reproduce.
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Luke 6: 38
Life has the tendency of giving back whatever we give in the over and above measure. God intended nature to behave like so. You receive back a smile when you smile at people. And receive a frown back when you frown at someone. You may not receive a smile from the very person you smiled at, but be lest assured that smiles will be given back to you from different people. We cannot expectant good treatment when we are in the habit of mistreating others.
Attitudes/Acts
Attitudes are powerful. These are inner feelings that get expressed through behavior. Actions are simply manifestations of one’s inner feelings. A man is known by his actions. And actions are simply expressions of one’s inner thoughts, or the state of one’s soul. The sermon Jesus on the mount, addresses the issue of attitude that has the potential to affect one’s life. The following are the attitudes we need to observe in order to be fruitful in life.
1. Total dependence on God
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5: 3
Dependence is an attitude is an attitude of total surrender. A tree’s survival depends on its dependence on the soil. It cannot declare independence from the spil and expect it to grow and flourish. It will certainly dry and die.
So, your fruitfulness in life depends on your total dependence on God. There is no such thing as independence in the kingdom of God.
2. Waiting on the Lord
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5: 4
Waiting on the Lord is a gesture acknowledging the Lord to be the Savior. Man has been in a state of hopelessness due to sin, but Jesus came to set man free from the yoke of sin. So, genuine repentance produces the fruit of forgiveness and peace.
10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
2 Corinthians 7: 10
3. Humility
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Matthew 5: 5
Humility is a virtue in which lives thrives. God resists the proud but His gives more grace to the humble. Humility is a nonnegotiable commodity in the kingdom of God. There is no other alternative for humility. Humility ensures favor. The world acquires possessions using force, but we receive from God through the vehicle of humility.
4. Desire for Righteousness
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Matthew 5: 6
We are living in a very covetous generation. It is a generation that cannot say enough. It keeps on desiring for things and that has led to massive corruption scandals in the world. However, God wants us to ave the hunger and thirst for righteousness. The only thing that satisfying is Jesus. There is nothing that can satisfy the soul of man, except Jesus.
5. Showing Mercy
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Matthew 5: 7
Mercy is an active virtue that Christians can show each other because we have been given mercy. Since God has forgiven our offenses, we should forgive others and show mercy. Forgiveness is not transactional. Oftentimes, we wait for someone to come and apologize before we can forgive. That’s not forgiveness, but forsaleness. We show mercy through forgiving others even when they do not deserve. We have be forgiven, not because we deserve but because the Lord has shown mercy.
