A Fruitful Life Through Work

A Fruitful Life Through Diligence

By Apostle Felix

27  A passive person won’t even complete a project, but a passionate person makes good use of his time, wealth, and energy.

Proverbs 12: 27

Diligence is to be persistent at one’s work. The steadiness, earnestness and energetic effort displayed in work. It is the competence and commitment to work. The killer of dreams is slothfulness, and not necessarily the devil. It looks like the devil is more active in Africa than in other parts of the world. This is not the case. The devil has bee given a position he does not deserve in Africa. Special services to break the power of poverty and barrenness are held across our continent, Africa. The African church is known for its spirituality, yet producing very little results on the world economical stage. And this is because, poverty cannot be evaded by exorcism. We have many exorcists in Africa, but few thinkers and workers.

Despite its abundant natural resources, Africa and its inhabitants have remained poor. Poverty is a byproduct of slothfulness. The first man, Adam was not directly cursed but his land he was supposed to work. God had given land to man to work it and make it to produce for him. God had inculcated fruitfulness into the land, but upon the fall, land became resistant to just easily yield to man. In other words, it revolted against man.

15  The LORD God took the man and placed him in the Garden of Eden in order to have him work it and guard it.

Genesis 2: 15

17  He told the man, “Because you have listened to what your wife said, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ cursed is the ground because of you. You’ll eat from it through pain-filled labor for the rest of your life.

Genesis 3: 17

Man’s worthiness is tied to his work. There is nothing that is more important than his work. Of course, besides God. Man goes into depression if he does not have work. It is the reason why he exists. A man can be married to a loving and submissive woman, but can still be depressed if he does not have work. To a man, work is more important than marriage. He defines fruitfulness by his work. So when God withdrew His presence from man, the land went into a revolt. In order to produce from the same land, man had to work extra hard. He had to labor. Any man that will despise labor will not see fruitfulness.

11  Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

Proverbs 13: 11

Wealth is meant to be gained through work, and not by any other means. Thieves and robbers get incarcerated because they take something which they did not work for. Nature itself forbids that. Wealth has to be worked for in order to gain it. Sudden riches should be questioned. Politicians that become rich over night should be taken to task. How can one amass so much wealth from his government pay within a period of five years in power. These are tendencies that have deprived our African continent from prospering in the manner it ought to prosper. In China, stealing of state funds is unpardonable crime that deserves death penalty. The Chinese do understand that wealth comes by much labor, and not by much stealing. Work, just like stealing have ripple effects. Work benefits many, stealing deprives many. We have been called to be a blessing to many through the resources we generate through work, and not through stealing.

1 Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.
2  For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

Psalm 128: 1, 2

A fruitful life is one that works. A worker cannot be associated with barrenness. Children of God, let us wake up and smell the coffee. It is not the casting out of devils from you that makes you fruitful. The devils should be cast out from people’s lives but that is not what ensures fruitfulness. The Chinese, most of them are full of devils but yet prospering. Let us work. Deliverance should not be a scapegoat for laziness. Let us think. It takes hard work to be fruitful.
