The Age of Deception

The Age of Deception

By Apostle Felix

1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2  Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3  Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 Timothy 4: 1 – 3

Deception is the act of deliberately misleading, tricking, or hiding the truth to make someone believe a falsehood. We now live in an age where lies have been normalised, and the truth is treated like an outdated virtue. People despise the truth, and those who speak it are mocked. Consequently, many believers are afraid to live out their faith for fear of being ridiculed, choosing to conform to worldly standards rather than endure mockery. This alignment with the world is a dangerous path, as the Bible explicitly warns that many will depart from the faith by heeding seducing spirits.
Seduction, by definition, is the act of charming, tempting, or enticing someone into a specific behaviour, choice, or activity through subtle manipulation or flattery. The devil’s temptations are inherently seductive; they appear innocent and appealing to the eyes. Rather than using force or threats to compel people into actions that will later cause pain and regret, the devil entices them, softly convincing them that a sinful act is entirely harmless.

13  But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

2 Timothy 3: 13

Behind every deception, there is an evil intention and a seducer. While every deception carries a malicious motive, it rarely appears that way when first introduced; instead, it often masquerades as an excellent, harmless suggestion. However, when you read between the lines, you discover that its true intent is the destruction of your life. Deception does not typically arrive like a sudden, overwhelming flood. Instead, it enters in small pockets, much like drops of water from a loose faucet. If tolerated, these slow drips will eventually crack the concrete foundation. Many lives have been ruined by allowing these seemingly minor compromises to persist. One harmless act leads to another, ultimately culminating in a full-blown compromise that spins completely out of control.

1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Genesis 3: 1

The enemy did not overwhelm Adam and Eve with an obvious threat, but rather with a simple suggestion that appeared innocent and appealing, particularly to Eve. She likely never imagined that the small act of eating from the tree would bring such catastrophe into their lives. Adam’s own hesitation was weakened when he saw that nothing immediate happened to Eve after she ate. To please her, he chose to eat the fruit as well, despite knowing it directly violated the Lord’s command. He mistakenly believed a small transgression would cause no harm, unaware that a spiritual crack had already formed the moment he allowed the deception to take root.
The compromises we allow in our lives may not cause immediate havoc, but over time, the cracks will always show. A single, seemingly harmless glass of wine can escalate into a full bottle, and eventually, an addiction. Listening to a little worldly music can gradually reshape your desires until you are entirely consumed by it. Never underestimate the small trickle of water from a loose faucet; given enough time, even those tiny drops have the potential to split a solid rock. Watch out!
