The Taking Over Attitude
By Apostle Felix
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.Philippians 4: 7 – 9
The conqueror’s attitude is different from a defeated attitude. One is not always defeated because they are physically weak. The greatest weapon a man has is actually an attitude. An attitude plays a significant role in a person’s way of life. A defeated attitude will always produce a defeated way of life. It is not because the God in one’s life is weak. No, it is because the person has an attitude that is contrary to God’s thoughts. An attitude is actually inner thoughts or a mindset that is expressed through behaviour. So, bad thoughts will definitely produce a bad attitude. An attitude cannot be better than one’s thought life. Solomon said that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Proverbs 23: 7
A child of God should never underestimate the power of thoughts. Your life in this physical life is an expression of your thought life. You cannot rise above the state of your mind. Therefore, an overcoming life is largely determined by the individual’s thought life. You cannot entertain thoughts of defeat and expect to win this physical life. Prayer cannot compensate for a bad attitude. It is not something that one can pray away. An attitude is a matter of thoughts and can only be dealt with in the realm of the soul. Apostle Paul addressed the issue of the soul when he encouraged believers to renew their minds by the word.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12: 2
The soul is renewed by God’s thoughts, not by prayer. Prayer is a product of thought, so it is important to renew the soul with the word of God. A wrong attitude will pray amiss. God is also interested in our attitudes. God knows that our attitudes have a bearing on our lives. Someone said that where the mind goes, the body follows. So, the direction of your life is largely influenced by your thought life.
David and his men were so distressed and discouraged when they found their wives and children taken captive by the Amalekites. The loss of their wives and children affected their attitude, even towards their leader, David. But David made himself to be encouraged in the Lord. He shifted his meditation from the problem to God. That decision he made was a game changer. He brought about a great recovery in the history of David’s life. Because of one man who decided to change his attitude, the history of David and his men changed into what we know it today. The distance between the breakthrough and you is your attitude. Embrace a victor’s attitude.
