Born for A Purpose

Born for A Purpose

By Apostle Felix

4  Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
5  Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Jeremiah 1: 4, 5

You are definitely born for a purpose. No single person born into this world is without a purpose. It does not matter how life looks like now, you are born for a purpose. About sixteen years ago, I saw a man on a Sunday morning in his drunken stupor. Of course, my immediate reaction was to despise the man for been drunk in the early hours of the morning. Then suddenly, the Lord spoke to me and said, ‘The drunk man has a purpose, and he does not know about it.’ And then He went on to say, ‘The man might die without ever discovering and realizing his purpose on earth.’ That conversation I had with the Lord made me to realize that every human being born has a purpose. That drunkard, prostitute or street person you know has a purpose. Do not despise them.

5  Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab, Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth, Obed fathered Jesse,
6  and Jesse fathered King David. David fathered Solomon by the wife of Uriah,

Matthew 1: 5, 6

Rahab was a prostitute, who had had probably lost all hope and resorted to prostitution. However, she was born for a purpose and she became a great great grand mother to king David. This prostitute, abandoned by her own people became part of the Messiah’s earthly lineage. Who would have thought that Rahab would be part of the promised Messiah’s lineage. If it was man to decide who should be part of the Messiah’s lineage, Rahab was definitely going to be disqualified. Not only was she a prostitute but was a Canaanite, who survived the destruction of Jericho. According to the Jewish standards, Rahab did not qualify.

You might have been disqualified by man probably because of your past, the tone of your skin color, marital status, the nature of your temperament, or the location you live. Normally, people are accepted based on their seemingly current success and appearance. The great people today, were once ignored. David, the king of Israel was once ignored because of how he probably looked or his curriculum vitae. David’s curriculum vitae did not fit into a king. There were more qualified personalities, like Eliab, David’s brother. He had the right height, perfect looks and great charisma, but God had not appointed him for the purpose of leading Israel. He had appointed the unlikely person, David.

11  Then Samuel told Jesse, “Are these all the young men?” He said, “There yet remains the youngest one, and right now he’s tending the sheep.” Samuel told Jesse, “Send someone to get him, for we won’t do anything else until he arrives here.”
12  So he sent and brought him. He had a dark, healthy complexion, with beautiful eyes, and he was handsome. The LORD said, “Get up and anoint him, for this is the one.”

1 Samuel 16: 11, 12

Anointing follows purpose. You can only be fruitful in the area where you have been called. David, though he was not trained as a soldier, he defeated Goliath because of purpose. The defeating of Goliath was part of his purpose in life. You have been born with a purpose and the Lord has anointed you to fulfill that purpose. There is no giant too big where purpose is concerned. It does not matter how big the challenges look, focus on your purpose and the challenge will dwindle in size.
