The Battle of Words

The Battle of Words

By Apostle Felix

7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8  And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Genesis 2: 7, 8

Man is essentially a product of words. God made a body from the dust of the earth and then breathed into a lifeless body, and man became a living soul. The breath of God is not oxygen because God is not oxygen dependent. But He has exalted His word above Himself. He is bound to His word. God did not breath oxygen into man’s life, but He breathed His word into  man. The essence of man’s life is the word of God. The moment the word of God met with dust, man became a living soul. In the origin, the phrase ‘And man became a living soul’ is translated as a speaking being. Man was designed to rule through his words.

28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Genesis 1: 28

And God blessed them and said, be fruitful, multiply, replenish, subdue and have dominion. Genesis chapter one tells us what God and chapter two how God did it. The breath was God’s blessing whose content was what chapter one verse twenty eight describes. He spoke into the body the words we see in verse twenty eight. And since, words had been at the centre of man’s fall and rise.

1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Genesis 3: 1

The devil came to man with words that were in opposition of what God had said. It was a battle of words. The temptation was in the realm of words. Temptation is not sin. It only translates into sin when we yield to satan’s suggestions. Jesus went through the same ordeal in the wilderness. The battle of words took place in the mind. Satan was suggesting things that were contrary to God’s word. Adam gave in to the temptation, but Jesus, who is the word resisted the temptation and cast the words down. He won the battle of words in the wilderness to show us as example that it is possible to win the battle of words.
