My Grace Journey…10
By Apostle Felix
The Holy Spirit Leading
6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.
8 And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.
9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.Acts 16: 6 – 10
The Holy Spirit leads us in what we are supposed to do. God does not want us to go through this life guessing of what we should do for Him. He is a precise and concise. He is our shepherd and more than willing to lead His sheep in the way they should go. I have seen God leading me in my life and ministry. I believe with all my heart that I am where God wants me to be. I am in Namibia because God spoke to me to come to Namibia, some twenty two years ago.
My story of been led by the Spirit started when I got born again. I learned quiet early in my journey to hear the voice of God. The instructions initially were simple and easy to follow through. He would instruct me to go and pray for certain individuals and reach out to some. I obeyed most of the instructions but some I did not. For example, He asked to go and pray for my uncle, who was lying sick in hospital in another town, about forty kilometres from my home town. The instruction was clear, ‘to go and pray for my uncle before he passes on.’ But I did not see it urgent to travel that same day, so I postponed it to the next. Unfortunately, my uncle passed on that evening. When I traveled fro the funeral, the younger brother to the deceased uncle told me that my uncle was literally pleading the people who were by his bedside to call for me. That incidence broke my heart. When God speaks, always take it as a serious and important matter. Do not trivialize the leading of the Holy Spirit. Always discipline yourself to obey promptly.
38 Then Mary responded, saying, “This is amazing! I will be a mother for the Lord! As his servant, I accept whatever he has for me. May everything you have told me come to pass.” And the angel left her.
Luke 1: 38
Oftentimes, we want to now how God will do it. There is always this temptation of wanting to know ‘God’s hows.’ Mary, the mother of Jesus, had a similar problem. She wanted to know how God will make the conception possible. It is human. When God told me to go to Botswana, i did not know how that would possible because I knew nobody in that country. However, I obeyed the Lord and that year of 2002 left for Botswana. I was standing at the shopping mall in Gaborone, wondering were to go or whom to call. I was felt stranded but God’s will wasn’t. Of course I was at the centre of His will and purpose. I couple came to my rescue that evening at the shopping mall and accommodated me for that night. And there was a ripple of miraculous interventions of His provision since then. He has never failed. He provides when He is behind the steering wheel. I just allow Him to be charge of the wheel then He will pay all the expenses.
2Co 11:24 Five times I’ve received thirty-nine lashes from the Jewish leaders.
2Co 11:25 Three times I experienced being beaten with rods. Once they stoned me. Three times I’ve been shipwrecked; for an entire night and a day I was adrift in the open sea.
2Co 11:26 In my difficult travels I’ve faced many dangerous situations: perilous rivers, robbers, foreigners, and even my own people. I’ve survived deadly peril in the city, in the wilderness, with storms at sea, and with spies posing as believers.2 Corinthians 11: 24 – 26
The leading of the Holy Spirit does not mean there will be not trouble. Difficulty times will be there, but that does not mean God has left you. Every leading of the Holy Spirit faces immense opposition from the enemy. The enemy would want to discourage you at all cost so that you may give up on following the leading of the Holy Spirit. Men will oppose you. Men will accuse you falsely. I was once accused of stealing a huge some of money in Botswana. I experienced some rough times in Botswana as well. There were moments I felt like giving up.
In 2003, I started planning of moving to USA, to go and study and settle. I applied at one of the universities in Atlanta. I was accepted and started working to traveling to the USA. But in month of September, when I was about to go and sleep, the Holy Spirit spoke to me to come to Namibia instead. That was depressing honestly, because I knew very little about Namibia and I had no interest at all. I never thought of the idea of relocating to Namibia, or even visiting. It was not just on my agenda. And when God instructed me to come to Namibia, I really protested. I wanted to go to USA. But I decided to visit Namibia in the month of January 2004. I visited and met Simonee, who later that year became my wife. Was every rosy? No, I have had difficulties times, but the Lord had never let me down. He is a faithful God.
